Description
- soit un mélange de 90% en volume de isobutane et de 10% en volume de propane, tel qu'il est connue sous le nom "Drivosol 27", à raison de 20 à 25% en poids;
The subject of the present invention is an insect repellant composition intended to be applied to human skin as well as to hair, or clothing, as well as to the coat of animals.
The object of the invention is to provide an insect repellent composition which makes it possible to remedy the main drawbacks presented by known repellent compositions; namely: unpleasant odor and limited duration of effectiveness either by absorption or metabolization of the composition by the skin, or by sweating due to high heat or stress or by abrasion of the composition caused in particular by washing of the treated surface or by the movement of air on this surface. This is how we notice efficiency reductions of around 60%, compared to a wind-free atmosphere, when the wind reaches a speed of 190 m / minute.
To this end, the composition according to the invention comprises at least one active repellant, chosen from extracts of pelargonium, geranium, lavender, pyrethrum, lemon flower, as well as N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide, an agent plasticizer and an agent amplifying the repellent effect of the above active compounds.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the plasticizing agent is a vinyl compound.
According to an advantageous embodiment, the vinyl compound is polyvinylpyrrolidone.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the amplifying agent is cyclopentane-1-one-2-npentane-3-methyl ethyl ester known under the name of Hedione.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the composition comprises, by weight, from 30 to 75% of 95% ethanol, from 5 to 50% of N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide, from 0, 1 to 2% polyvinylpyrrolidone, 2 to 10% isopropyl myristate, 2 to 10% dipropylene glycol, 0.1 to 2.5% amplifier, 0.1 to 2.5% d '' a solubilizing homogenizing agent and natural extracts from 0.1 to 2.5%.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description given below, by way of nonlimiting examples, of insect repellents according to the invention.
The composition according to the invention, which is repellent for most insects and in particular for the following mosquitoes: Aedes Aegypti, Culex, Mansonia, Anopheles, Psorophora, for fleas, ticks, horse flies, black flies, black flies stable, Cerotopogonidae, has the main characteristic of allowing the creation, on covered surfaces and mainly on the skin where the repellant compositions lose their effectiveness as quickly as possible due to absorption, metabolization, perspiration and / or l abrasion, of a film, which resists time, external conditions as well as changes in the state of the covered surface and which regulates and slows its release from the active ingredients of the composition, in which most of the present remains of these active repellant ingredients,
ingredients whose activity is advantageously increased by the incorporation into the composition of an enhancer, said composition further having the advantage of being made up for the most part of natural products which are non-toxic for humans and animals.
This composition, the odor of which is pleasant and which, according to the invention and as described below, contains a plasticizing and fixing agent as well as an amplifying agent, has real repulsive activity for a minimum period of 4 to 8 hours. which could reach 14 hours depending on external conditions when it is applied in the following quantities, which vary in particular according to external atmospheric conditions, such as the temperature whose rise causes dispersion or abrasion; from 0.05 to 0.2 mg per cm <2> on the skin and from 0.01 to 0.1 mg / cm <2> on the hair or clothing and on the coats of animals.
Said composition, which contains polyvinylpyrrolidone, which constitutes the plasticizing and fixing agent for the formation of the abovementioned film, natural active repellent extracts, such as pelargonium, geranium, lavender, pyrethrum, lemon flowers, as well as N, N -diethyl-m-toluamide, an amplifier constituted by cyclopentane-1-one-2-npentane-3-methyl ethyl ester whose property is to ensure a synergistic effect with the active repellent extracts, advantageously comprises, by weight, 30 to 75% 95% ethanol, 5 to 50% N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide from 0.4 to 2% polyvinylpyrrolidone, 2 to 10% isopropyl myristate, 2 to 10% dipropylene glycol, 0.1 to 2.5% of the above-mentioned enhancer and 0.1 to 2.5% of a solubilizing homogenizing agent, such as polyoxyethylene nonyl phenyl ether known under the name of "Lamacite" and from 0.1 to 2.5% of natural repellent extracts.
The aforementioned composition may also comprise a dye improving its appearance, this dye, introduced into the composition in an amount of 0.001% to 0.01% by weight, being chosen from neutral dyes with respect to the above-mentioned constituents.
Excellent insect repellency results have been obtained, and in particular lasting results, with a composition comprising, by weight, 65.5% of 95% ethanol, 20% of N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide, 1% polyvinylpyrrolidone, 8% isopropyl myristate, 4% dipropylene glycol, 0.1% amplifying agent, 0.5% solubilizing homogenizing agent and 0.9% natural repellents extract.
According to the invention, the repellent composition can be either in the form of an aerosol, or in the form of a gel which can in particular be used in a dispenser with a roll-on dispensing head or even in the form of spray.
When it is in the form of an aerosol, it is used as a propellant.
- Or a mixture of 90% by volume of isobutane and 10% by volume of propane, as it is known by the name "Drivosol 27", at a rate of 20 to 25% by weight;
- or a mixture of propane and butane at a rate of 40% by weight.
When the composition is in the form of a gel, it comprises, by weight, 45 to 55% of the composition defined above, 25 to 35% of demineralized water, 12.7 to 17.5% of 95% ethyl alcohol, 0.1 to 1.3% of a viscosity-enhancing agent, such as a very high molecular weight polymer known as a "carbomer", of 1.5% with 4.5% hydrogenated cod liver oil, known in particular under the name of "Crémophor 2H40" and from 0.5 to 2% of polyoxyethylene (15) cocoamine known under the name of "Ethomeen C / 25" .
An excellent composition was obtained, in the form of a stable gel, with 49.5% of the composition defined above, 30% of demineralized water, 15.5% of 95% ethyl alcohol, 1% of "Carbomer ", 3% of" Crémophor 2H40 "and 1% of" Ethomeen C / 25 ". When this gel is intended to be used in a dispenser with a roll-on dispensing head, the viscosity of the gel defined above is lowered by increasing the amount of solvent.
When it is presented as a spray, the composition is advantageously that which is defined above, and more particularly that which comprises 65.5% of 95% ethanol, 20% of N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide, 1% polyvinylpyrrolidone, 8% isopropyl myristate, 4% dipropylene glycol, 0.1% enhancer, 0.5% solubilizing homogenizing agent and 0.9% natural repellents.
