Abstract
The fastener has upper and lower arms (1,2) that are joined at one end by a hinge (3). The other end (4) of the upper arm (2) is fixed to one end of the bracelet (7). The fastener is held closed by a bridge (5) that is hinged (6) on the side of the lower arm (1). The bridge goes over the bracelet and it has a notch (8) which locks on to the opposite side of the lower arm. The lower arm has an opening (9) in which the upper arm fits when the fastener is closed. USE/ADVANTAGE - The fastener is for a bracelet and it is concealed when closed and it cannot open accidentally.
Description
DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
Bracelet clasps are known, the construction of which allows them to be hidden in the closed position. This is particularly the case of the clasp described in Swiss patent 646,852.
In this clasp, the two arms which fold over one another are locked to one another in the closed position by a notch made in one of the arms, the end of the other arm coming from insert by elasticity in this notch.
This kind of clasp is quite secure. However, it happens that, due to wear or deformation, the clasp tends to open unexpectedly. This can cause inconvenience, or even a risk in cases where a watch is attached to the bracelet, and where it may be absolutely necessary to have this instrument available every second, as happens especially during scuba diving.
The present invention aims to provide additional security by preventing the clasp from opening, even if the usual closing means cease to fulfill their function.
The invention is defined in claim 1.
The drawings show, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a partial top view of a bracelet with a clasp according to the invention, in the closed position.
FIG. 2 is a side view of a portion of the clasp shown in FIG. 1.
Figure 3 is a section along line III-III of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a clasp according to the invention, in the open position.
The clasp has two arms. The lower arm 1 is connected at one end to the upper arm 2. At this end which connects the two arms, a hinge 3 allows the upper arm to fall back onto the lower arm. Because the lower arm has a notch (9) in the middle, the upper arm is fully included in the lower arm in the closed position, and it is held in this position by a notch 10. On one side of the arm from below there is a second hinge 6. To this hinge is attached by one end a bridge 5, which has the shape of a flat arch. At its other end, the bridge has a notch 8 which allows it to lock on the other side of the lower arm. Once folded down, the bridge traps the strand 7 of the bracelet which is attached to the upper arm, as well as this arm.
Once the bridge has been folded down, it is no longer possible to open the clasp without also opening the bridge.
