Abstract
The metal strip (1) to be perforated, delivered by a roller (2), passes around a rubberised rotary drum (6) against which it is pressed by a perforated titanium mask (7) in the form of an endless belt. A cylindrical cathode (11) is adjacent to the opposite face of the mask. An electrolyte, supplied by a channel (12), flows between the cathode and the mask. A DC electrical current flows from the cathode (11) to the strip (1), connected to the positive by means of a contact roller (3), and the strip (1) is perforated by anodic attack (etched) in line with the perforations of the mask. The method applies especially to the production of perforated metal strips of a few microns thickness, which are intended for the manufacture of batteries or accumulators. It permits a continuous and high-speed production. <IMAGE>
