Abstract
The activated sludge employed for the microbiological purification of phosphate-containing sewage contains soluble phosphate present in the microorganisms. This sludge is kept in residence in an anaerobic medium to extract the soluble phosphate therefrom and the sludge rid of the phosphate is reemployed for the sewage purification.
