Abstract
The device able to power an electrolyser includes four juxtaposed sub-units (I, II, III, IV) in a compact structure. These sub-units each include electrodes placed side by side in pairs, electrolytic compartments being defined between two groups of electrodes. Half (2, 4, 6, 8) of these electrodes being made either of aluminium, niobium or tantalum, the other half (1, 3, 5, 7) being constructed of nickel or carbon, so that an electrode is constructed differently from the electrode which is beside it or from the neighbouring electrode. An AC current generator (b) is connected between the end electrodes (1, 8) and between the second (II) and the third (III) sub-units. A DC voltage is gathered between the first (I) and second (II) sub-units, on the one hand, and the third (III) and fourth (IV) sub-units, on the other hand. Such a device coupled to an electrolyser can provide for the production of oxygen and hydrogen. In such a case the quantities resulting from the operation of the power device are of the same order as those from the electrolyser itself. <IMAGE>
