Abstract

This shunting device can be used in particular for an electric motor and enables the current passing through the exciter winding to be reduced to very low values without causing appreciable ripples in the current passing through the armature. The device includes in parallel with the terminals of the field winding and of the main thyristor, four branches, the first including a diode (D), the second an inductor (L) and a capacitor (C), the third an inverting thyristor (Thi) and the fourth a DC voltage source (E). A switch-off thyristor (The) is arranged between the second and third branches. A reloading thyristor (Thr) and a reloading inductor (Lr) are arranged between the fourth and third branches.
