Abstract
Compressed gas cartridge for domestic use has thin capped non-return valve alternatively pierced for gas discharge
Description

The present invention relates to a compressed gas cartridge with a check valve.
Such compressed gas cartridges are suitable, among other things, for use with household machines, for example in a cream blow bottle. Pressurized gas cartridges with check valve are known, for example, from Swiss Patent No. 511 396, which describes a check valve that consists of only two parts, the movable valve body, which has a thickening closing part, pressed under pressure against a seat lip and in such a way seals the pressurized gas cartridge. In order to be able to remove gas, a pin is actuated on the cream blower bottle which depresses the valve element, whereby gas can escape from the cartridge.
On the other hand, pressurized gas cartridges are known which work without a non-return valve and are equipped with a pierceable film that has to be pierced by a mandrel attached to the cream blow bottle for gas removal.
The two described pressurized gas cartridges have the disadvantage that they can only be used for a very specific type of device. It is the aim of the present invention to provide a simple pressurized gas cartridge which is suitable for various types of household appliances
Such a compressed gas cartridge is characterized in that the valve body, which is sealed off from the valve housing by means of a sealing ring, has a bore such that its end face can be pierced.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawing, the single figure showing an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention in longitudinal section.
One recognizes the cartridge body 1 containing the compressed gas, for example carbon dioxide, which is shown incompletely here. The uppermost part of the cartridge body, the neck 2, has a smaller thickness than the rest of the cartridge body and forms a paragraph 3. On this paragraph there is a ring 4, which has the task of preventing the valve body 5 from being pushed into the cartridge body during filling. The valve body has a bore 6 which is dimensioned such that the end face 7 of the valve body can be pierced by a mandrel. The valve body also has an annular groove 8 into which a sealing ring 9 is inserted. This sealing ring seals the valve body from the valve housing 10.
The valve housing 10 has a cylindrical bore 11 into which the valve body can slide sealingly, and merges into a cylindrical bore 12 with a larger diameter. As soon as the valve body resp. the sealing ring is located in the cylindrical bore 12, gas can escape from the cartridge body. At the upper end, the valve housing has a stop 13 which prevents the valve body from being pushed out of the valve housing.
The valve housing is attached to the neck of the cartridge body at 14 The pressurized gas cartridge is assembled as follows:
First, the sealing ring, which is generally made of rubber, is inserted into the annular groove, whereupon the two assembled parts are pressed into the valve housing from below. The ring 4 is then placed on the shoulder 3 of the neck of the cartridge body so that the valve housing can then be inserted into the neck of the cartridge. The neck, together with the lower part of the valve housing, is then cold deformed in such a way that a sealing attachment is created between the cartridge body and the valve housing
When filling the gas under pressure, the valve body is pressed down to the ring 4, whereby the gas can flow in.
After completion of the filling process, the valve body is pressed by the gas in the bottle up to the upper stop 13, and the sealing ring closes the cartridge.
This pressurized gas cartridge can now be used in two ways, depending on the objective. Either the valve body is pressed down by a pin provided for this purpose until the sealing ring is in the housing part with the larger bore 12, or the end face 7 is pierced by a mandrel, whereupon the gas can be removed. The design of both types of device is known and is not the subject of the invention. In the case of use with a device that has a mandrel, it should be noted that the thickness of the end face is dimensioned such that the force required for piercing is much less than that which presses the valve body against the stop, whereby a Thickness of about 0.2 mm is advantageous. In this case the check valve will be destroyed, i. H. for single use only.
If the check valve is used by pushing it down with a pin, it goes without saying that the cartridge can be filled and used several times.
PATENT CLAIM:
