Abstract

An electrochemical measuring cell for ionic activity, has a tube containing an electrolyte with a head mounted on top, with an upper cavity through which passes the electrode which extends through the tube and is immersed in the electrolyte. The base is closed by a ceramic diaphragm for free migration of ions from a liquid in which the tube is immersed. A branch above the electrolyte level, communicates with a cylinder alongside, contg. a piston with a constant rate spring behind it. This enables the press. inside the cell to be maintained equal to the press. outside, during immersion.
