Abstract

The decorative feather, which is larger than the finished watch face, is attached to a base plate by covering it with a transparent varnish, to maintain the fronds of the feather in place, the excess parts of the feather extending beyond the margins of the base plate and then being trimmed off when the varnish is set. The feather is preferably fixed to the base plate by using adhesive, e.g. using a double-sided adhesive tape. The numerals for the watch face can then be provided by embossing or printing, or these may be provided externally of the watch face.
