Description
Buckle for link The present invention relates to a loop for a link such as a belt or bracelet, in particular a watch strap, comprising a frame to which is attached one of the strands of the link and under a cross member of which passes the free end, a clamping piece, articulated on said frame, being capable of being lifted out of the plane thereof and of being folded down substantially in this plane, resting on stop means.
This loop is characterized by the fact that the clamping part comprises a transverse front part cooperating with the free end of the link when the latter is engaged under the cross member, this transverse part being connected to the part of said part by which the latter. this is articulated on the frame by at least one elastic part yielding by its own elasticity when a force is exerted on the transverse part, perpendicular to the latter, the whole so that, the free end of the link being engaged under the crosses while the clamping piece is in the raised position,
this can be folded down to cross the cross member by yielding elastically, then, resting against said stop means and partially resuming its extended position, presses the free end of the link against the cross member, with a wedging effect produced by its transverse part.
The drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a watch strap buckle.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section thereof, and FIG. 3 is a plan view of a detail.
The buckle shown comprises a frame 1, of plastic material, to which is attached, by means of a bar 2, one of the strands, designated 3a, of a watch strap. This frame has, at each of its ends, a crosspiece la, respectively lb, under the first of which passes the second strand of the bracelet, designated by 3b, when the buckle is closed. The buckle shown further comprises a clamping piece 4, also made of plastic and in the form of a frame, having two transverse sides, front 4a and rear 4b, and two longitudinal sides 4c.
This part is articulated using two rods 4b extending the posterior transverse side 4b with the help of which it is articulated on the two loins, designated by 1c, of the frame 1.
The front edge of the transverse side 4a has grooves 5, wolf-tooth, facing upwards, designed to increase its adhesion to the strand 3b of the bra celet.
The longitudinal sides 4c of the clamping part 4 are in an arc of a circle, opposed by their convex faces. When a pressure is exerted on the front transverse part 4a of the clamping piece 4, following the arrow 6 of FIG. 3, perpendicular to the transverse part, in order to tend to bring it closer to the posterior transverse part 4b, the two longitudinal sides 4c deform elastically, tending to approach one another, as indicated by arrows 7 of the fig. 3.
Once the pressure at 6 has been released, the longitudinal sides 4c resume their initial shape, by their own elasticity, pushing the transverse part 4a to the left of FIGS. 2 and 3.
The clamping piece 4, articulated around the axis of its part 4b, can occupy a position in which it is lifted out of the plane of the frame 1 (fig. 1) and a position in which it is folded down in this plane (fig. . 2), resting on a base 1d presented in frame 1.
The buckle shown operates in the following manner. The clamping piece 4 occupying its raised position, the free end 3b of the bracelet is engaged under the front cross member of the frame. The clamping piece is then folded back. During this movement, it crosses the cross bar by tightening against the elastic action of its sides 4c, then it partially resumes its extended position while abutting against the bottom 1d of the frame 1. The transverse part 4a of the clamping piece 4 then presses the strand 3b of the bracelet against the crossbar 1a, in a wedging effect, the ridges 5 also cooperating with the strand 3b.
It should be noted that the tightening is not produced by the elasticity of the sides 4c mainly, the latter essentially having the aim of bringing the part 4a of the clamping piece into engagement with the strand 3b of the bracelet. Above all, self-tightening occurs due to the jamming of part 4a of the clamping piece, this self-tightening increasing with the traction to which the bracelet is subjected.
As a variant, the ridges 10 of the end 5b of the part 5 of the clamping piece may be omitted or have a shape different from the wolf-tooth shape shown.
Also in a variant, the shape of the longitudinal sides 4c of the clamping piece 4 may be different from the arcs of circles described and shown, provided that they allow, by elastic deformation, the two transverse sides 4a and 4b to approach each other. 'from each other. We could even provide for the case where the two longitudinal sides 4c would be replaced by a single central part, for example folded in the form of an accordion.
