Description
Method and machine for winding up band-shaped towels
The invention relates to a method for winding up band-shaped towels emerging from a mangle and to a machine for carrying out this method.
Wraps of band-shaped towels are used in hand-held machines.
When such band-shaped towels are mangled, several towels emerge from the mangle next to one another at the same time. So far, these towels were taken individually in a basket and then individually wound up by means of a high-speed winding device, which had to be monitored by an operator to avoid malfunctions. The use of slow-running take-up devices of this type is prohibited for reasons of labor saving. The usual high winding speed, however, results in excessive stress on the towels.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that several towel strips emerging from the mangle at the same time are simultaneously wound onto a core to form a roll, that each roll is driven by contact with a roller-shaped part and that all roller-shaped parts are in turn driven together.
According to the method according to the invention, there is no need to collect the towels in baskets and carry these baskets around. Since the towels are wound up at the same, relatively slow speed with which they emerge from the mangle, they are less stressed than in the case of the method described above. Since, due to the low winding speed, a single operator can easily monitor the winding of all towels at the same time, no increased workload is required for this monitoring either.
The invention also relates to a winding machine for carrying out the method according to the invention, which machine is characterized by holding devices for several towel winding cores arranged axially next to one another and a continuous shaft forming the roller-shaped parts for the common drive of all towel rolls by contact with their peripheral surfaces.
Exemplary embodiments of the objects of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
The drawing shows schematically a winding machine for three band-shaped towels 1 emerging from a mangle (not shown) at the same time side by side. This machine comprises a frame 2 in which a drive motor (not shown) is accommodated. A pulley 3 on the shaft of this motor is coupled via a belt 4 to a pulley 5 on a shaft 6 which forms cylindrical parts and which extends over the top of the frame 2 and is mounted in bearing blocks 7.
Vertical rails 8 are provided on the bearing blocks 7. A core of a towel roll 9 is mounted rotatably and vertically displaceably in two such rails 8, so that the peripheral surface of the towel roll 9 is held in contact with the shaft 6 by gravity. By rotating the shaft 6, the towel rolls 9 are thus rotated together and the towels 1 are wound up.
In order to improve the drive, the portions of the shaft 6 which are in contact with the towel rolls 9 can be roughened, e.g. B. corrugated or knurled, or with a friction-increasing coating, e.g. B. rubber or emery cloth.
The speed of the drive motor can be matched to the working speed of the ironer by any known means in order to synchronize the winding speed with this working speed. These funds can e.g. B. be controlled by the mangle or by the slack of the towels 1 between the mangle and the take-up machine. An exact synchronization can also be dispensed with and a certain amount of slippage can be allowed between the shaft 6 and the towel rolls 9. In the latter case, the shaft 6 is driven a little too quickly and the towels 1 are held taut.
