Description
Tamper-evident box
The present invention relates to a box with tamper-evident closure. This box is characterized in that it comprises an elastic plastic cover in one piece with at least part of a side wall of the box and having a dispensing opening, a closure member covering this opening, one of which end is integrally connected by a flexible web to the edge of the side wall and the other end is permanently engaged in the cover, the whole being arranged so that after tearing of the web, the closure member can pivot around the end engaged in the cover to uncover and cover the opening.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a container comprising this embodiment.
Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are views similar to that of FIG. 1 showing different positions of certain organs.
Figs. 5 and 6 are sections, on a larger scale along 5-5 and 6-6 of FIG. 1, respectively.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view over the container, and
figs. 8 and 9 are partial sections, on a larger scale, of this embodiment.
The closure device which will be described is intended to close a box which may contain, for example, pills which must be dispensed one by one through an opening 10 in a wall 11 of the box, this opening being covered (fig. 1). ) by a closing part 12 but which can be exposed (fig. 3 and 9) by tilting the closing part upwards around the axis 13 of a hinge 19.
The wall 11 and a narrow peripheral skirt 14 integral with this wall form a shallow cut 15 for receiving the pills to be dispensed. After filling, the cup is closed and the box is completed by a bottom 16 (fig. 5) pressed into the skirt so that its peripheral edge 18 at the heel is housed in a groove 17 formed around the inside of the skirt. . The bottom is preferably made of a relatively rigid stamped metal foil, while the cup, the closure piece and all one-piece molding connection parts are made of an elastic plastic material, for example the known polyethylene. under the name of
Alathon-17.
To facilitate dispensing of the pills one by one, the cup is generally triangular in shape with the opening 10 being provided near an angle. A rounded-ended V-rib 20 extends around the interior of this angle away from the skirt (fig.
5 and 7) and it is shaped and disposed so as to hold one of the pills facing the opening 10 when the box is held in a vertical plane, the opening being disposed at the lower part of the triangle.
The closure part 12 comprises a rectangular and relatively flat plate 21 and a tubular stopper 22 of oval section, integral with the plate and disposed between the ends of the latter. This plug 22 can fit into a wall 23 bordering the opening 10. A trigger fit is obtained by molding around the end of the plug 22 a narrow flange 24 rounded outwards (fig. 5 and 8) d 'a diameter slightly greater than that of the opening 10.
When the closure plate is pressed against the skirt 14, the plug 22 being aligned with the opening, the flange is guided in this opening by a conical part 25 (fig. 8) at the end of the wall 23, it is tightened by passing through the opening and finally expands below the wall 23 when the closure plate 21 comes to rest against the outer face of this wall. When the plate is tilted upwards, the flange 24 is tightened and allows the plug to be withdrawn from the opening to expose the latter (fig. 3 and 9).
The hinge 19 comprises a relatively flexible strip 26 constituting an extension of the closure plate 21 integrally with the inner end of this plate, and has a shallow transverse groove 27 to form a fold line constituting an axis 13 of the plate. hinge. The inner end of the strip 26 is fixed to the wall 1 1 by a flat tongue 28 (fig. 4, 5, 6 and 8) in one piece with the strip and perpendicular to it shortly before the inner end of this strip and formed to be housed by pressure and lock in a rectangular hole 30 formed during molding in the wall 1 1 and spaced inwardly from the opening 10, but close to and behind the hinge 19.
To ensure this locking, the free edge of the tongue 28 is a little longer than the length of the hole 30 and its ends 31 are bevelled at 32. When the tongue 28 is pressed into the hole 30, it is compressed longitudinally passing through the hole, after which its ends expand below the wall (fig.
6) thereby securing the end of the strip firmly to the wall 11. This happens automatically during the initial assembly when the hinged strip and closure plate 21 are pressed down from the partially folded position shown. in fig. 8 up to the complete assembly position shown in fig. 2, 5 and 6 in which these parts are housed in a depression 33 of the wall 11, depression in the peripheral contour is complementary to that of the strip 26 and of the closure plate 21 but slightly larger, the exposed faces of the strip and the tray coming flush with the surface of the wall 1 1 in the closed position (Fig. 1 and 5).
Fig. -4 and the dotted elements of FIG. 8 show that in the initial molding the closure plate 21 is arranged horizontally edge and edge and in an inverted position relative to the wall 1 1 and joined integrally to the latter by a flexible web 35 which can be folded to allow the closure piece to swing upward from its initial inverted molding position and then laterally over the top of wall 1 1 to guide closure piece and tongue 28 into rough alignment with opening 10 and hole 30 ( fig. 8, in solid lines).
The various parts being thus arranged and held by the web, correct engagement of the stopper 22 and the tongue 28 in the walls of the corresponding holes can be done simply by pivoting the members 21 and 26 towards the part II.
One end of the web 35 is integral with the outer end 36 of the tray 21 along a line of breakage 37 which is formed by weakening the web by a notch in its edge or preferably, as shown, by weakening the web. forming a shallow groove 38 (fig. 4 and 5) along the junction with the closure plate, which determines a tear line of the tape.
At its other end, the web 35 is weakened in the same way and joined to the bottom of a groove 40 at an adjacent edge of the wall 11 to define a tear line 39. Although the seal can be arranged along 'any part of the skirt 14, it is preferred, in order to facilitate molding and decrease the bend angle at any point along the web, to locate the seal on or near the free edge of the skirt 14. this edge. Thus, in the initial molding, the elements 26 and 21 and the web 35 are arranged end to end and aligned longitudinally (fig. 4 and 8), the closure cap and the hinge tab being in the inverted position with respect to the position. final assembly on the wall 14.
In this position, it is evident that all the surfaces of the closing parts of the hinge and of the wall 11, as well as the various formations described above on these surfaces can be arranged vertically or sufficiently close to the vertical position to allow forming in a single molding operation in cavities of cooperating dies, while allowing separation of the dies and shrinkage of the molding without significantly deforming the contour of the latter.
After cooling the plastic material and removing the molding in the form shown in FIGS.
4 and 7 out of the forming dies, the parts 12 and 11 can be brought into the correct use position (fig. 1 and 5) and the hinge 19 can be formed and fixed simply by folding the web 35 to tilt the parts of a half-turn compared to parts 12 and 11 and press them against them.
This folding is done along the two lines 37 and 39 at the bottom of the grooves 38 and 40 which are at a distance from each other equal to approximately the height of the skirt 14. Thus, the web 35 is folded. a right angle from its initial position (FIG. 4) so as to be disposed parallel to the skirt 14 and close to an angle of the latter.
The closing and hinge plates are folded in the same way a quarter of a turn around the bottom of the groove 38 constituting a support line and then tilted on the upper part of the wall 1 1 to guide and place the stopper 22 and the tongue 28 first in approximate alignment with the opening 10 and the hole 30 respectively (Fig. 8) and then to make them penetrate and engage with the wall 1 1 (Fig. 5) by means of a further downward pressure.
After this folding, the part of the web 35 between the tear lines 38 and 40 is disposed vertically near a corner of the skirt 14. To facilitate the separation of the web 35 and release the closure piece. Viewed from the opening and closing of the dispensing opening 10, means are used to facilitate the gripping of the web and the application of an outwardly directed breaking force to one side of the web. For this purpose, a traction tab 41 is integrally molded with an edge of the web 35 in the plane thereof, this tab projecting tangentially from the angle of the skirt 14 and having an end part free that can be easily grasped between thumb and forefinger.
The tab can then be pulled out, tearing the web 35 transversely along lines 37 and 39 and separating an intermediate portion 29 of the web (Fig. 2) while leaving torn edges 42 and 43 which do not affect the web. not appreciably the appearance of the box.
The tear line 37 is disposed in an area spaced outwardly a short distance beyond the corner of the box so that after the web is torn the free end 36 of the closure plate 21 covers the corner. of the box (fig. 2) and constitutes a tongue which facilitates the gripping by the fingers of the closure piece when it is desired to lift the stopper 22 and tilt the closure piece into the position shown in FIG. 9 to allow the pills to be dispensed through the opening 10.
Once the part 29 has been separated from the web 35, the closure is packaged for ordinary use, i.e. one can lift the stopper 22 out of the opening 10 and fold the closure plate back. in the position of fig. 9 when you want to take a pill out of the box. Then the closure is tilted in the opposite direction and pressed into the depression 33 to close the dispensing opening and return the tray 21 and the strip 26 to the closed position, their exposed surface being flush with the surface of the wall 11. If the web 35 has been torn by an unauthorized person, the break-in is visible by the fact that the web 35 is absent or deformed.
