Description

Headlight, in particular for cars The present invention relates to a headlight, in particular for cars, characterized in that it comprises a parabolic bifocal reflector, one of the elements of which is equipped with a headlight bulb while the another element is equipped with a coded bulb, a transparent front glass covering said reflector, the light beam of each bulb being reflected by the middle zone of each parabolic element, and means for adjusting the position of the reflector directly from the exterior of the lighthouse, from the front, in height and direction.

In one embodiment of the invention, the adjustment screws can pass freely through the front window and the edge of the reflector and come to be screwed into nuts forming a ball joint, this arrangement avoiding the possible twisting of the screws during adjustment.

Two embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of example, which are shown in the accompanying drawing.

In this drawing, fig. 1 is a partial vertical sectional view of one of these embodiments; fig. 2 is an exploded view showing the constituent elements of the second embodiment; fig. 3 is a front view of the headlight produced using the elements of FIG. 2; fig. 4 is a sectional view through IV-IV of FIG. 3; fig. 5 is a sectional view through V-V of FIG. 3; fig. 6 is an enlarged scale view of part A circled in FIG. 4.

Referring to the drawing, it can be seen that in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the headlight comprises an element 1 which reflects only the code beam. This element consists of a little more than the upper half of a parabolic reflector, the bulb of which is designated by 2.

The reflector element 1 is associated with a second identical reflector element, not shown, reflecting only the headlight beam, emanating from a second bulb, also not shown.

The elements 1, preferably of plastic material, comprise bosses 6 pierced with a threaded hole and receiving screws 7 passing through bosses formed on the periphery of the front transparent surface 8 of the headlight.

This surface 8 can be secured to the sheet 9 of the car by elastic interlocking or by any other means. Springs 10, interposed between the bosses 6 and those of the transparent part 8 prevent the vibrations and jolts of the car from causing any movement of the reflector 3 relative to the transparent part 8.

As will be understood, the screws 7 make it possible to adjust the headlight from the front of the vehicle in the vertical plane and in the horizontal plane.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 to 6 comprises a collar 11 fixed to the coach rie 9 of the motor vehicle. In this collar, - which has studs 12 on its internal face, comes to fit, with the interposition of a sealing gasket 13, the rim 8a of the transparent front part 8 of the headlight.

The joining of the parts 11 and 8-8a is ensured by engaging the aforementioned pins 12 in helical grooves 14 formed in the thickness of the rim 8a.

The transparent front part 8 comprises, on its internal face, bosses 15 pierced with a hole 15a serving for the passage of screws 7, the sealing being ensured by means of a gasket 16. These screws, preferably of plastic material. , are surrounded by a spring 10 and come to engage in bosses 6 provided on the rim la of a parabolic reflector 1 with bifocal focus, provided, at its central part, with a hemispherical reflector 5 adapted to the bulb headlight 4 placed below the bulb code 2 ..

As will be understood, the headlights described have the following advantages: a) great ease of adjustment from the front; b) possibility of removing the assembly: reflector 1, transparent part or glass 8, without having to dismantle anything; c) possibility, for a given size, of using a larger reflector, since the constituent organs of the adjustment device are housed inside said reflector.
