Description
Junction point connection for wooden structures The invention relates to a junction point connection for wooden structures. This construction is intended to be used to connect strut ends with a belt or cross brace.
Connections are already known in which struts galvanized at the ends are inserted into a groove of a belt with gluing made by means of a circle, milling. The holes produced in this way have curved walls so that the struts can only come into contact with the walls at points.
The junction connection according to the invention for wooden structures with a belt and strut ends galvanized to form a pin, which engage in a hole in the belt, is characterized by the fact that the hole has flat walls viewed in a longitudinal section through the belt, the angle of these being mutually exclusive opposite mortise walls corresponding to the angle of the struts to be introduced.
The accompanying drawing shows an embodiment of the node connection according to the invention, namely: FIG. 1 shows a sectional view along the line I-I in FIG. 2 and FIG. 2 shows a plan view of a connection with wedge-shaped prongs.
The belt, which represents the main strut, is denoted by S, in which a hole N is mortised. This hole is characterized in that its side surfaces are flat, in particular those that are cut in a longitudinal section through the belt (Fig. 1) and that they are inclined to each other in a wedge shape in this cut. The struts Z and D are galvanized at their ends and combined to form a pin. According to FIG. 1, the struts have not yet been fully inserted into the hole.
If the belt is guided against the assembled pin, the two walls of the mortise just executed press the struts against each other.
Only the resulting pressure allows the use of a finger-jointed connection between the strut ends. Due to the level contact of the struts, which end at the level hole walls, the mutual pressure of the prongs increases as the pressure on the entire wooden structure increases.
The wedging of the struts also creates a strong friction between the two strut backs and the equally inclined flat walls of the mortise in the longitudinal direction of the belt and also a slight spreading of the pin composed of the two strut ends, which makes the mortise in the belt also in the transverse direction filling up.
Gluing the nodes ensures that glue surfaces are pressed against glue surfaces and the internal pressure generated at the node, generated by the wedging, not by additional pressing tools, is retained while the glue is hardening.
This gluing under constant pressure gives higher strength values than those with mere adhesive contact. In addition, the glue is not prematurely stripped from the most important connection points when joining.
