Description
Method for attaching a collar on an axle for a bicycle rim brake and axle with collar produced according to this method. The invention relates to a method for attaching a collar on an axle for a bicycle rim brake. Be known bicycle rim brakes have an axis on which two brackets are mounted which carry the brake shoes, which axis is also used to attach the rim brake to the bicycle frame. This axle is provided with a collar (ring) which must be fixed immovably on the axle.
Common axes of this type are usually provided with two circumferential grooves into which the inner wall of the collar is pressed, thereby ensuring a relatively good fit. After all, it has happened many times that such a covenant has broken away.
In order to prevent such a loosening, attempts have already been made to unscrew the axis with the collar from a full rod. However, this production method is extremely expensive.
Axles that are @cast in one piece with the collar are out of the question due to their high level of unreliability.
According to the method according to the invention, the axis is now deformed without cutting, preferably by upsetting, that a circumferential bead is formed on it, onto which the collar is pressed so that the bead engages in its inner wall. This process ensures a completely secure fit without weakening the axle, as is the case when grooves are made and then the collar is pressed in.
With reference to the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained.
1 shows a diagram of a rim brake intended for a bicycle, the components of which are shown pulled apart. Fig. 2 shows the axis with collar in side view and Fig. 3 the same in longitudinal section.
On the axis 1, the circumferential bead 2 is upset, over which the collar 3 is pressed hot.
Axis 1 and collar 2 are of course made of metal, preferably steel. On the steel axle, the bead is produced by cold heading, that is, by random shaping; the collar, on the other hand, is pressed on warm, preferably in a red-hot state.
The illustrated axle 1 for Fahrradfel genbremsen thus has an invisible to the eye, circumferential bead 2, over which the collar 3 is pressed so that the bead engages in its inner wall.
