Description
FiItre # especially for cigarettes, cigarette holders and pipes. The present invention relates to a filter, in particular for cigarettes, cigarette holders and pipes. This filter is characterized by the fact that it is composed of at least one support bristling with bristles and arranged so that its bristles form baffles for the smoke.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and to by way of example, two embodiments of the filter according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows -a first embodiment of this filter applied to, a label.
Fig. 2 shows a second form of execution of the filter also applied to a small one.
Fig. 3 is a partial sectional view to on an enlarged scale of a portion of the filter according to fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view, also on on an enlarged scale, of the forming element. the filter -depending on the -second execution form.
The filter shown in fig. 1 and 3 com takes several supports each consisting of -a thread. 1 bristling with hairs 2. These threads, - 1 < / B> are arranged in parallel, some with a-titles in bundle, so that their hairs become entangled the -one in the other.
In variants of this first embodiment, the yarns 1, instead of being disposed parallel to each other, could be twisted, crossed, braided or woven.
Such filters are manufactured by forming a coil, braid or cord, continuous to using a multitude of wires 1 arranged in a bundle, this coil being able to be enveloped by -a strip of paper and sectioned to the desired length so to constitute sections of filters, ready to to be introduced into these garettes.
Of course, the length of these filter sections can be chosen at as you wish, as well as their diameter, so as to also allow their introduction into a cigarette holder or a pipe.
The: Mo constituting these filters are manufactured for example by gluing -He ordinary yarn, by placing it above a container yant the length containing chopped yarns a- bristles 2 and by subjecting the glued yarn and the bristles 2 to contrary electric charges, so as to cause the chopped bristles 2 to mass deposit against the wire on which they remain stuck perpendicularly.
Such sons. bristling with hairs # are commonly called flake yarns in commerce.
In the -second embodiment shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the support constituting the filter is formed by a strip 3 bristling with bristles 4 on its two laces and rolled up so that its bristles are entangled in the others.
In a variant, the strip 3, instead of being bristling with hairs on its two laces, could have hairs only on one of its laces. Such flaked tapes can be prepared in any manner as, for example, in the same manner as shown above for flaked yarns 1, Bristles 2 and 4 - filters according to the two embodiments shown can be made of a material capable of being impregnated with smoke condensation products.
These bristles can be made, for example, of cotton, wool, silk or synthetic material bolsters.
The 1 yarns as well as the 3 bands can also be made of the same material. However, the bands 3 could be made of any material, for example paper, cardboard, etc.
These filters could also be made of a material which is inert with respect to the smoke, their filtering power then coming exclusively from the tangle of hairs and hairs. baffles created on the path of the smoke by them.
As a variant -de the first embodiment, the filter, aLt li-Li to be constituted by several son arranged in a bundle, could be formed by a single wire folded in a zigzag.
Likewise, in a variant of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the tape 3, instead of being rolled up, could be wrinkled.
In some cases, the filter could be made of metallic materials or possibly of glass fiber.
The filters described above are particularly useful for cigarettes, cigarette holders or pipe; however, they could be applied to other fields of filtration other than that of tobacco smoke.
