Description
Fig. 1 eine Vorderansicht,
Process for the production of eye prostheses having an artificial iris.
The invention relates to a method for the production of an artificial iris having eye prostheses, for. B. so-called adhesive glasses or artificial eyes, using transparent, heat-sensitive plastics, such as esters of acrylic acid and the like. According to the invention, an artificial iris in the form of a film is first placed in a shell made of transparent, heat-forming plastic and then, in a further operation, transparent, heat-forming plastic is placed on these parts, whereupon these parts are brought into the state of heat formation and are pressed together in a mold whereupon, after this joining process has ended, the pressed body is cooled and removed from the mold.
The transparent and heat-forming plastic to be applied to the artificial iris can have the shape of a shell. It can also be in powder form and sprinkled on the artificial iris and on the part of the underlying shell that is not covered by the iris. Furthermore, it is optionally provided that in the area of the scleral part between the underlying shell and the second layer of plastic, dyed sheep's wool threads are inserted and that the artificial iris is made of dyed paper.
An exemplary embodiment of the method according to the invention is described below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a front view,
Fig. 2 shows the cross section through the parts before the start of the connection process and
3 shows the cross section after completion of the connection process.
The figures show that the convex part of the shell 1 made of transparent, heat-formable plastic, produced by injection molding or blow molding, has the shape of the bulbus of the eye. The artificial iris 2 in the form of a rosette is placed in this shell 1, which is embedded in a matrix 11f. Subsequently, powdered transparent, heat-forming material K, for example the branded product Plexiglas, is sprinkled on the artificial iris 2 and on the parts of the shell 1 not covered by it, whereupon the male part P of the press mold is introduced into the cavity of the shell and the whole is heated and is subjected to the pressing pressure.
After a certain time, the extent of which is determined by experience, the parts have combined to form a body which can then cool down together with the mold and after cooling is removed from the mold.
After it has been removed from the mold, the pressed body is smooth, so that it can be used as an eyeglass with little or no machining rework.
The artificial iris in corneal part C and the added, veining sheep's wool threads in Xklera part S are completely enclosed by plastic so that they cannot be attacked by the tear fluid.
The illustrated example of a guide is intended for patients whose iris has been surgically removed.
In the same way, complete artificial eyes can also be produced for patients who lack the entire eyeball. In this case, too, the iris is first placed on the bowl, but it is not a ring, but a circular disc with a black point in the center. Then further, heat-forming plastic is applied, namely so much that the supporting beads are relatively formed in a manner known per se.
