Description

Device comprising a movable endless belt of which at least part of the exterior face is visible. The object of the invention is a device comprising a movable endless belt of which at least part of the exterior face is visible, according to the claim of the main patent, that is to say in. wherein said endless belt passes over two rollers spaced apart from each other and one of which is subjected to.

elastic means tending to move it away from the other, so as to keep the strip taut, at least one of the rollers being provided with a drive mechanism so that the strip can be moved by rotating this roller .

In such a device, the length of the endless belt cannot exceed certain limits if the device is to maintain admissible dimensions.

In order to eliminate this drawback, the device which is the subject of the. This invention is characterized in that it furthermore presents several intermediate rollers over which one of the strands of the endless belt passes in a sinuous path.

The single figure of the drawing shows schematically, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the object (the invention.

The device shown comprises an endless belt 1 formed of a certain number of parts connected by invisible joints. The outer face of the strip 1 is divided into regions differing from each other by the. painting they present. These regions may have solid hues differing from region to region, or may each exhibit a decorative pattern.

The endless belt passes over two rou = leaug spaced one apart. on the other 2 and 8, one of the strands of the strip passing directly from one of these rollers to the other, while the other strand passes successively over intermediate rollers 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 by making a winding path. It is the outer face of the strand of the strip which passes directly from roll 2 to roll 8 which is visible.

In this way, the strip 1 can be 'of great length without the device assuming too large proportions, as would be the case if a strip of the same length only passed over the first two rollers 2 and 8.

The shafts carrying the first two rollers 2 and 8 are carried by bearings arranged in the uprights of a frame, not shown, in which the intermediate rollers are also mounted. To move the strip, one of the rollers 2 and 8 is provided with a crank drive mechanism, not shown.

The bearings bearing the shaft of that of the first two rollers 2 and 8 which is not provided with the drive mechanism can slide in slots made in the uprights of the frame and are subjected to the action of springs which tension moving the rollers 2 and 8 away from one another, so as to keep the strip 1 taut.

The device shown and described may be a background device for a photographic workshop. The outer face of the strip could also have a continuous decorative pattern, the visible part of which forms, for example, the bottom of a window.

The outer face of the endless belt could also carry timetables, a geographic map or instructional images, etc.
