Description
Fig. <B>1</B> zeigt einen Längsschnitt durch den <B>S</B> challdämpfer nach der Linie 1-<B>1</B> der Fig. 2<B>;</B> Fig. 2 zeigt einen Längsschnitt nach der Linie 11-II der Fig. <B>1</B> und Fig. <B>3</B> zeigt einen Querschnitt durch den Schalldämpfer nach der Linie III--III der Fig. <B>1.</B>
Silencers for internal combustion engines. The invention relates to a silencer for internal combustion engines, in which the exhaust gases are repeatedly guided through throttle points and cross-section widenings.
The invention is intended to enable the construction of silencers, which are particularly suitable for the manufacture in large series with good damping effect. According to the invention, the silencer is divided lengthways by a flat, perforated partition wall, with several transverse walls offset from one another on both sides of this longitudinal partition wall, which allow the gas to flow through the holes in the longitudinal partition wall from one side to the other dieei, wall direct.
The gas stream is expediently guided past at least one chamber with which it is connected only through holes in the longitudinal partition.
The outer wall of the muffler can be made up of two pressed sheet metal halves, which are welded to the perforated longitudinal partition wall and at the same time to one another. In the drawing, the subject of the invention is illustrated, for example.
FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the sound absorber along the line 1- <B> 1 </B> of FIG. 2; FIG 2 shows a longitudinal section along the line 11-II in FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 shows a cross section through the silencer along the line III-III in FIG B> 1. </B>
The outer wall of the silencer <B> 1 </B> consists of the two pressed jacket halves 2 # 2 '. The narrow flange rolls <B> 39 3p </B> of these nalite halves are connected to the partition 4, which divides the silencer lengthwise, and at the same time to each other by an all-round roller weld (Fig. 3). The partition 4 has holes which are designed as elongated slits <B> 5 </B>. Several transverse walls <B> 6 </B> are arranged offset from one another on both sides of the longitudinal partition 4.
The gas flow entering the silencer <B> 1 </B> through the connection stub 8 is first guided through the guide plate <B> 7 </B> on this stub to the upper side of the longitudinal partition 4 and from there through the holes <B> 5 </B> this wall several times from one side to the other.
At the exit, the connecting piece <B> 8 '</B> is fed through a guide plate <B> 7' </B> on this nozzle. All the two ends of the muffler <B> 1 </B> flowed, ') t the gas flow on the upper side of the perforated partition <B> -1 </B> at the chambers <B> 9, 9 arranged below this wall '</B>, with which it is only connected through holes in the longitudinal partition.
