Description
Grate for fireplace. The subject of the invention is a grate for a fireplace, of which the accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof, FIGS. 2 and 3, being sections, respectively by A-B and by C-D of FIG. 1.
The grid comprises tubular bars 4, made of mild steel, the base of which communicates with a chamber 4a and, the top of which communicates with a chamber 4b. These two chambers being intended to contain water which will circulate from bottom to top in the bars installed, the grid must be placed, for its use, in an inclined position such as that drawn; the two end bars may be U-shaped, if they are each intended to be welded to a vertical wall of the hearth which will contain the grille.
Parallel fins 5, located between the bars, are welded to them, each by its two largest sides and at an angle such that the fuel does not pass below the grid. The grid cannot be burnt in the fire, the 2s bars having only the temperature of the water which hardly exceeds approximately 100.
The ratio between the solid surfaces and the free surfaces can be established so that, according to the applications, the passage of air between the fins is well distributed under the whole layer of fuel.
In another embodiment, instead of having fins each welded to two consecutive bars, the grid may have fins which will each be welded to only one of two consecutive bars.
The dimensions of the grille and its angle may vary as well as its method of construction. Thanks to the usual welding processes, this construction is easily achievable.
