Description
Sheet metal butt joint with cover strip, especially for sheet metal cladding on car bodies. It is known to relocate the joints of two cladding sheets to a support strip, so for example on a strut of the supporting framework in the case of the car body, with the anein other adjacent sheets divided by a row of fastening parallel to the butt joint, for. B. screws or rivets are attached to the common support strip. The butt seam and the fastening links are covered by a strip; however, special fasteners had to be provided for this bar until now.
According to the invention, this disadvantage is avoided in that the cover strip has two dovetail-shaped grooves on its inside, in which the heads of the sheet metal fasteners also engage, so that they also hold the cover strip in place. This training has the further advantage that nothing of the fastening means for this deck bar is visible to the outside. It is useful to insert a sheet metal strip under the cover strip, which has holes for the fastening members at certain intervals.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is Darge provides.
1 is a section through the sheet metal butt joint and FIG. 2 is a section along line II-II of FIG. 1.
The cladding panels 1, 1 '(Fig. 1) are attached to the strut 2 through the cover strip 3 with 4 screws. The cover strip 3 has two dovetail-shaped grooves 5 in profile, into which the likewise dovetail-like, suitably four-edged heads 6 of the fastening screws 4 engage.
Between the cladding sheets 1, 1 'and the cover strip, a sheet metal strip 7 is advantageously arranged, which contains holes 8 at certain intervals. This sheet metal strip is used to make assembly easier. During assembly, the screws are pushed into the dovetail-shaped groove of the cover strip, whereupon they are held in the correct position against each other by placing the perforated sheet metal strip.
