Description

Process to prevent polished objects from being covered with mist. The object of the present invention is a method for preventing polished objects from becoming covered with mist, characterized in that they are covered with a transparent sheet of coagulated cellulose, treated with an alkaline bath and then washed, the transparent sheet being glued to the surface of the polished object by means of a colorless adhesive.

This process is particularly applicable to the windshields of automobiles, to the windows of the cars of trams or wagons, to the mirrors of bathrooms, etc., as well as to all polished objects exposed to humidity, to rain and all the condensations of the water go scared.

The present invention is based on the observation that a transparent sheet of cellulose (a product generally known as cellophane) loses its ability to retain water droplets which settle thereon when it has been treated. by an alkaline bath, these droplets then spreading out and sliding in a layer of uniform thickness in no way disturbing the transparency of the sheet. The process can be carried out, for example, as follows: A sheet of cellophane or the like is soaked flat in water for about five minutes, after which it is passed between rolls to ensure the uniformity of its thickness. .

The cellophane sheet is then oven dried for about twelve hours and passed through an alkaline bath, such as about 50% caustic potash solution where it is left for 25 to 30 minutes at a temperature of about 30 - degrees C. After washing with running water for about an hour, the leaf is rinsed with a hydrochloric acid solution, washed again with running water for about fifteen minutes and dried in open air.

The polished object to be treated is washed in a weak solution of hydrochloric acid and ammonia and then passed into a drying oven. The cellophane sheet is then glued to the polished object using a colorless adhesive such as fish glue, the polished object being taken out of the dryer at a temperature of 60 to 70 degrees Celsius. C approximately. After gluing the cellophane sheet on the polished object, everything is ironed so that the sheet does not present any folds, then everything is dried in the oven.
