Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Friction brake for rail vehicles. The invention relates to a friction brake for rail vehicles and consists, in particular, in the fact that those parts of the brake linkage which transmit the movement of the brake lever to brake shoes which are movable in the direction of the wheel axis and which act on a brake disc radially to the wheel axis are movable in the direction of the wheel axis and Only move the brake shoes when the brake is applied, but do not affect the brake shoes when the brake is released.
In addition, the invention relates in special embodiments to the practical design of the parts of the brake linkage that act on the brake shoes, the brake shoes and the appropriate attachment of the brake lining.
The invention is illustrated by way of example in the drawing, namely: FIG. 1 is a side view, FIG. 2 is a plan view, FIG. 3 is a front view of a brake according to the invention; FIG. 4 schematically illustrates an overall arrangement of the braking device, FIG. 5 shows, on a larger scale, a section through the fastening elements of the brake lining on the brake shoes.
In the drawing, a denotes two part disks which are connected to one another by webs a 'to form a double disk. For application to the axle, the disks are halved and the halves are connected to one another by screws b which are arranged between the disks a. The double pane is thought to be polished to a high gloss on both sides.
The individual disc parts are designed in such a way that they are fixed against one another in the axial direction. c is a brake lining made of ferodo fiber, wood or the like, which is riveted to the sheet metal plate c2 with the aid of countersunk copper rivets cl (FIG. 5), while the plate c2 is in turn screwed to the actual brake shoe c4 with screws c3. c6 is a brake shoe pin which is surrounded by a spring es (Fig. 2) which presses the loose brake shoe off the disk.
c7 is a screw bolt, through

which the effective length of the brake shoe pin is adjustable. d are crossing brake levers that are able to act on the brake shoe pins and thus on the brake shoes. These levers are rotatably arranged on a crosspiece or yoke f at g which simultaneously supports the brake shoe guides.
The crossing long arms of the levers d are connected to a chain h, which is guided over a disk i and allows a balance between the two lever arms according to any different wear of the brake linings. Ic (Fig. 4) is a lever on which the force to be exerted by the driver, a solenoid or the like may act at ryza and on which two rollers o are provided, via which the flexible connections ra are passed over from the rollers ri. The two flexible connections n. Are connected to one another and can also bring about a compensation.
The rollers o are placed close to the axis of rotation of the lever k, so that the first essential brake ratio occurs here, while the main brake ratio occurs on the levers d. The spring c 'is complete by a housing p. encapsulated so that any dirt cannot get to this spring. The intermediate piece f with the brake shoe carriers is suspended with the aid of pendulums q on the floor or frame of the car, as shown in FIG. 3 in particular. This enables a relative movement between the brake lacquers n, which carry the lining c, and the partial disks ca in the vertical direction.
