Abstract
The bulk bag valve is a portable, reusable, adjustable valve that attaches to common flexible intermediate bulk containers. The valve can be attached before or after the container is filled. The valve can be attached or removed from a partially filled container. The valve can regulate volume of the products flow. The valve can stay attached to the container and placed back in its static resting position in preparation for continued use in the future.
Description
April 24, 2018 Description Instillation of the valve consists of connection points that attach the valve to the container creating a secure but removable connection. The valve frame members pivot at one end of the frame members and allow for the containers fabric spout to be placed between the frame members. The act of opening and closing the valve frame members allows the desired amount of product to be varied or stopped.
The adjustable frame members are held secure by a locking linear ratchet mechanism. This allows for full range of the frame members movement, with settable distance between the frame members. From fully open to fully closed and variance between. Product granular size and consistency requires differing profile shapes between the frame members. This compression point happens between removable jaws attached to the frame members and the fabric spout of the container. The product is kept contained and separate from the valve jaws by the fabric spout as the members are opened or closed. Multiple interchangeable valve jaw profiles address product grain size. During usage product guidance may require an additional removable spout that extends the fabric spouts ability to guide the product.
Removal of the valve from the container when product remains in the container involves closing the valve and tying the containers spout draw string, and then valve is then opened and removed.
A practical example of the valve in usage is when loading pedigree seed into seeding equipment in the agricultural industry. Multiple containers of seed fit into the seeding equipment's hopper, but as you near its capacity of the hopper you need to stop the flow from the container or risk spilling the seed.
Also handling equipment such as augers, conveyors and processing equipment in the agricultural industry may not be able to handle the full capacity of the container once the fabric spout is open.

Claims (7)
1.0 In usage of the valve there is connection points from the valve to the container, where by the valve is installed, held in place during operation and then removed from the container at any stage of the products removal from the container or the act of empting of the container. The preferred embodiment is round hooks on the frame members of the valve that hang on to the container
2.0 Flow of the product from the container is regulated by the valve frame member movement. The preferred embodiment has two parallel frame members with a single pivot point joining the frame members at one end. By pivoting the frame members together or apart variable flow of the product can be achieved
3.0 Valve frame member movement is controlled and set during instillation, operation and removal of the valve by a locking feature. The preferred embodiment involves a linear ratchet and pawl mechanism.
4.0 Product variance requires differing profiles between the valve frame members at the point of product compression to the valve. This present embodiment involves removable corresponding jaws that attach between the valve frame members.
5.0 Product guidance requires connection points from the valve frame members to a product spout.
This present embodiment is in the form of adjustable tethers attached to the bottom of the valve frame members and to the corresponding spout below the valve.
This present embodiment is in the form of adjustable tethers attached to the bottom of the valve frame members and to the corresponding spout below the valve.
6.0 In usage the valves has the ability to be installed and removed when the container new or used, empty or full and when only the partial contents of the container are present.
7.0 During usage the valve can remain attached to the container and lowered to the containers static resting position while partial or full product contents remains in the container.
