Abstract

The present invention relates to a controlled-release bead containing a pharmaceutically active agent comprising: (i) a core made of a substantially water-insoluble inert material; (ii) a first layer disposed over the core, said first layer comprising a substan~ water-soluble polymer and a swellable disintegrant; (iii) a second layer disposed over the first layer, said second layer containing said pharmaceutically active agent and, optionally, a polymer; and (iv) a third layer disposed over the second layer, said third layer comprising a controlling release polymeric system, and methods of manufacturing such.
