Description
DEVICE FOR MIXING OR BLENDING VARNISHES, PAINTS OR SIMILAR
SUBSTANCES
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention refers to a device for mixing or blending varnishes, paints or similar substances.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In the past, construction companies produced many cans of varnish or paint of many shades of colours. This required a large inventory of cans of paint and in addition the retailer had to have a sufficiently large space to store the many cans containing the various shades of colours.
To avoid this, the retailer keeps base colours in the shop and, using suitable dispensing machines, prepares the desired shade of colour on demand. In order to do this, it is not sufficient to fill a can with a certain percentage of base colour, but it is also necessary to blend the said colours. This is achieved using the appropriate device, which agitates the filled can.
These machines can hold cans of any size. The can is clamped between two plates and then using an appropriate mechanism is rotated using a so-called gyroscopic system in order to obtain a thorough blend of the colours.
The clamping of the can in some machines is effected manually by rotating a handwheel or a lever. In other machines the clamping occurs automatically.
Even if the size of the cans is uniform, each time, the can must be removed from the machine manually. If the said cans are particularly heavy, the removal process is relatively tiring for the operator and involves a considerable waste of time.
This has considerable impact on the cost of preparing the cans of varnish.
The aim of this invention is to overcome the above-mentioned disadvantages.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The technical issue to be resolved is to produce a device that makes it possible to adjust the mixing machine to cans of any height with both automatic and manual opening and release of the can. The solution of the technical problem is characterized in that it comprises two shafts, a central shaft and an eccentric shaft, with the said central shaft being activated by a reduction unit, a mobile trolley that is operated manually using guide rails supported by a lower arm on which is mounted the lower plate for loading the container of varnish, and operates together with an upper arm fitted with a plate in order to clamp the said container, the first means being provided in order to transmit the motion of said shafts to said upper plate in order to rotate the said container about its axis and the second means being provided in order to transmit the motion of said eccentric shaft to said plates to bring them together in order to clamp and rotate the said container on an axis that is perpendicular to its axis.

The screw 37, which is guided by a central hub 38 at one end, is fitted with another driver 39, which is attached by means of another belt 40 to a pulley 41 to which is fitted a spindle 42 attached to a handwheel or lever 43. This lever is supported by a safety piston 33. The entire mechanism is attached to the interior of the upper arm 44. This type of application makes it possible to operate the mixer in a multifunctional or "automatic" mode, or when required in a "manual" or "indexed"
mode, when there is the possibility of using an external "robot" unit for loading containers into the mixer.
The screw 37 by means of nuts, one right-hand 45 and the other left-hand 46, operates together with two arms 44 and 47, and said upper and lower arms are guided in their vertical movements by a rounded guide 48 to prevent the said arms 44 and 47 from rotating.
By pressing on a lever 49 (figures 1, 2, and 3), mounted on a trolley 50, the trolley may be pulled out by means of a handle 51. The trolley is fitted with neutral plate 35. By means of the handle 51, the trolley may be completely pulled out.
The handle 51 is guided by two guide rails 52 allowing full extraction, the lower arm 47 is fitted with a piston 53 whose function is to lock the trolley 50 either in the operating position or in the loading or unloading position.
By activating the motor 24 that, by means of the pinion gear 25, the toothed belt 26, transmits the motion to the pulley 22 which in turn causes the gear 21 to move, which transmits the motion to the gear 23, which in turn causes the shaft 18 to rotate, which transmits the motion to the ring gear 36, which being engaged with the right-handed and left-handed screw 37, by means of the nuts causes the arms 44 and 47 to move together until the container is clamped between plates 34 and 35.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Further characteristics and advantages are more clearly shown in the following description and in the attached drawings in which:
Figures 1 and 2 are a side view of the device that is the subject of this invention; and Figures 3 and 4 show a detail of the device in figures 1 and 2.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
With reference to figures 1 and 2 there is a general outline of 10 of a mixing machine for mixing or blending varnishes, paint or similar substances comprising a base 11 upon which is mounted a seat 12 upon which is mounted the central mechanism 13, which comprises a multi-start worm 14, which is directly attached to a motor 15 and a ring gear 16. The central mechanism 13 is fitted with two shafts 17 and 18 and a hub 19. The central shaft is engaged with the hub 10 and the eccentric shaft is engaged with the worm. The rear part of the central mechanism 13 is fitted with a support 20 to which a gear is attached 21 which in turn is attached to a pulley 22. The gear 21 erigages with another gear 23 that is mounted on the rear portion of the eccentric shaft 18. This entire mechanism is activated by a motor 24, a pinion gear 25 and a toothed belt 26. The motor 24 is attached to the central mechanism 13.
The shaft 17 with its hub 19 is fitted with a conical pinion gear 27 which engages with a conical ring gear 28 which, by means of a shaft 29, activates a driver 30 attached by means of a belt 31 to pulley 32, which is incorporated into the upper arm 44, attached to the control plate 34 to allow the rotation of the can or container to be mixed.
As will be explained in more detail below, the plate 34 operates together with a neutral plate 35 on top of which is placed the container of paint to be mixed.
The eccentric shaft 18, the front portion of which engages with a ring gear 36 which engages with a screw 37 with a left-hand and a right-hand thread, and the pitches of these threads are designed specifically for the requirements of the machine.
After the container of varnish is clamped, the motor is activated 15 which, being directly engaged by means of the screw 14 and the ring gear 16, sets the central shaft in motion 17 with the hub 19, in which the driver shaft is positioned 29 which causes the driver 30 to move, in turn by means of a belt 31 and a pulley 32, all of the aforementioned components in turn cause plates 34 and 35 to move.
The combination of the two rotations results in the mixing or blending of the varnish within the container in a uniform manner.
Due to the mass which is set in motion, to ensure optimal balancing without vibration, the upper arm 44, the lower arm 47, the central hub 38, the control plate 34, the neutral plate 35, the pulley 22, the upper end stroke 54 and lower end stroke 55 are made of sheet metal or plastic material so as to minimize the mass in motion and consequently reduce vibration, reduce the weight and result in better balancing for the mechanics.
