Abstract
A method for primary health diagnostics by performing a comprehensive assay of urine sample daily at home. The method involves for assaying a broad of analytes of interest in an urine sample - processed by immunoassay and urinalysis reagent tests in different formats. The method comprises performing multiple immunoassays and urinalysis reagent test of urine sample by either automated or manual manner day-to-day at home; capturing the image results showed by the test device from different formats by a single or multiple charge-coupled device (CCD) which acts as an analyzer;
inputing the data to a personal computer or a micro-processor day-by-day; processing and analyzing the data and storing it in a database; making the diagnostic report based on accumulated data at a set period.

Description
Speciticahons:
Method The present invention is concerned with a method for primary health diagnostics by performing a comprehensive assay in urine sample day-to-day at home.
It is common in various in vitro diagnostic devices (IVD) for the analysis of components of interest in urine sample from human body. Typically, the devices are made of mono- or multi-layers absorbent materials in which there is a reagent system which reacts with the presence of pre-selected analytes in the test fluid with a visually detectable signal such as changing in color or brightness. Such devices include immunoassay devices and urinalysis reagent tests devices. The diagnostic results can be detected by the naked eye or an apparatus. Conventionally, urinalysis reagent tests devices can be used to assay analytes of interest in urine sample either at clinical institute or at home, but this is not a case in immunoassay devices, particularly in one step immunoassays. To date, many immunoassay devices such as one step immunoassay devices can only be used to assay few analytes of interest in urine sample such as HCG
(pregnancy), because the broad of analytes of interest in urine sample is so tiny that they can not be assayed in a limited sample. Therefore, such immunoassay devices fail to provide useful result for health diagnostics by assaying a urine sample at home. To test such analytes by immunoassay device, serum samples having a high level of analytes of interest may use to replace for urine sample. However, such applications require a manipulated operation for taking blood from the vein, it is likewise inconvenient for performing such immunoassay at home. Due to these causes, the conventional test for home use can only perform limited variety of analytes of interest including urinalysis reagent tests and a few immunoassays such as HCG test in an urine sample, which results in a failure to provide a precise and fully diagnostic report.
In order to overcome such drawback, the present invention provide a method and apparatus that can detect a broad of analytes of interest by both multiple immunoassay devices and urinalysis reagent tests in urine sample at home. Thus, it is very useful for making primary health diagnostics at home. Unlike previous conventional tests, the inventive method uses membrane-EIA devices to perform multiple immunoassays in urine sample. Since the membrane-EIA devices allow unlimited sample supplying to react with reagent, it can easily detect a broad of analytes of interest in urine sample. By combining membrane-EIA devices with urinalysis reagent test strips, the inventive method is capable of performing a complex assays in urine sample daily at home to provide a precise and fully diagnostic report. To accomplish this purpose, a method comprises steps of performing multiple immunoassays and urinalysis reagent test of urine sample by either automated or manual manner day-to-day at home; capturing the image results showed by the test device in different format by single or multiple charge-coupled device (CCD) which uses as analyzer; inputting the data to a personal computer or a micro-processor daily; processing and analyzing the data and storing it in a database;
making the diagnostic report based on complex information accumulated day by day at a set period.
Apparatus The test apparatus comprise components o~
A, Optical System The optical system includes a light source and an objective lens. The light source comprises a small DC drive lamp, a half reflective mirror, and some other optical parts.
B, CCD image sensor Any type of CCD sensor can be used in this system depending on their distinguishability. In general, as small as 200x200 pixel-sized image can be used in the system.
C, Image data processing system Ether computer or micro-processor can conduct image data processing. The software program used in such application will be edited using either visual basic, visual C double plus for computer, and micro-processor.
D, Design of entire system The system can be made either by a detecting device combined with a personal computer or a stand-alone portable device, which is very useful in applications of point of care.
The test principles are defined as follows:
Either single or multiple CCD image sensors) is used to capture images of immunoassay and urinalysis reagent tests in urine sample day by day; the image data is processed and saved by either computers or micro processor. According to the test results from a multiple assays including in both immunoassay and urinalysis reagent tests, the system will automatically make a comprehensive analysis, and print out the rlia~nostic report based on accumulated data at a set period.
