Abstract
L'invention concerne un voltmètre électro-optique permettant de mesurer des tensions sans erreurs notables imputables aux conducteurs voisins ou aux perturbations de proximité. Le voltmètre comporte un émetteur (1), un capteur (4), un détecteur (43, 44) et un module de traitement (62) du signal. L'émetteur produit un faisceau de rayonnement électromagnétique qui est dirigé vers le capteur. Dans le capteur (4), le faisceau subit l'effet électro-optique de Pockels. L'effet électro-optique produit une modulation de la polarisation du faisceau qui, à son tour, est convertie en uen paire de signaux indépendants à modulation réciproque d'amplitude, à partir desquels le module (62) de traitement du signal est capabe de déterminer la tension du champ électrique. Le recours à des signaux de modulation réciproque d'amplitude permet au module (62) de traitement du signal de faire une meilleure discrimination entre le signal et le bruit. Pour convertir le faisceau, le capteur (4) décompose, en au moins deux signaux en modulation d'amplitude, le faisceau selon les axes de l'état de polarisation du faisceau (une ellipse dont l'ellipticité varie entre -1 et +1 en proportion de la tension). Ces signaux sont fournis au module de traitement (62) du signal et traités de façon à déterminer la tension entre le conducteur de terre et le conducteur (2) sur lequel on mesure la tension.
