Abstract

La présente invention est une méthode de transfert de communications entre plusieurs réseaux de transmission de données sans fil différents. La méthode de l'invention comporte les opérations suivantes : réception de mesures RF transmises par une pluralité de stations de base de réseau de transmission de données sans fil; comparaison de chacune des mesures RF reçues avec un seuil RF minimum préétabli; sélection de l'un des réseaux sans fil différents; demande à un dispositif de communication sans fil, via une liaison métallique avec une pluralité de modems de réseau RF, de communiquer avec le réseau sans fil sélectionné; transmission RF de la demande à un routeur interréseau connecté au réseau de transmission de données sans fil en cause; production d'une liste de candidats de transfert pour le dispositif de communication sans fil; sélection d'un candidat de transfert comme station de base cible d'après des critères de communication préétablis; communication de l'identité du candidat de transfert au dispositif de communication sans fil; syntonisation sur le canal de communication pour faciliter la communication sans fil avec le candidat de transfert; et exécution de toute conversion de protocole nécessaire.
