Abstract

ABSTRACT

A tool for the purpose of physical exercise must afford a resistance in order to develope muscular size and strength within specified muscle structures. In this invention such resistance can be applied from the natural resistance of ones own muscular ability by virtue of the unique structure and purpose of the tool. A metal tube specifically shaped with gripping surfaces in centre and at both ends allows the user to exert muscular contractile force while applying a counter force from the same muscle structure on the opposite side of ones body. For example the right bicep muscle contracts against the resting force offered up by the bicep muscle.

j " ~, , DESCLOSUR~ AND SPECIFICATIONS

This invention is a light weight,l hand held,l resistance exercise tool the purpose of which is to deliver variable resistance over the full range of motion of specific working muscles. This device does not use welghts, springs or other mechanical weight devices in order ~o provide said resistance but is so designed to the user to apply from within their own natural capability,l specificably from the counter part muscle structure on the opposite side of ones body. This invention allowes one to work a muscle with a full range of resistance from the minimal isotonic to maximal isometric contraction, a reguirement in muscular development. Increased mechanical resistance with weights and weight machines will invariably cause musuclar and skeletal strain leading to injury. This problem is significantly reduced because the user of this invention exerises with a light weight device and supplies resistance from within the power of their own strength.
In drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention Figure 1 is a plan view of this enbodiment.
Figure 2 is an alternative with a~m and torso embodiments as seperate entities.

The exercise tool illustrated in figure 1 consist of a .75 inch seamless tube with a .O~9 inch wall thickness. It is bent specifically to fo~m l:llo o\~ 1.1. clLmention and shaped to afford hand grip surface~ Llt U~.ICII ~nd and in the centre.
It is, painted with a lead free enamal paint. The ends are capped with low density polyethylene plugs and gripping surfaces are covered with non slip closed cell foam grips.
Alternatively this exercise tool can be manufactured into seperate embodiments as shown in figure 2. The material and usage would remain the same and this is just a change in form.
Figure 3 through figure 8 illustrate the specific exercise possitions using the invention for the development of each particular muscle area being worked.

Claims (3)

1) A hand held resistance exercise tool the purpose of which is to supply resistance to the working muscles with ones own strength.
2) A tool as defined in claim 1 to which a specific size, shape and function is required for its proper usage.
3) A tool as defined in claim 1 or 2 in which the application of resistive force is supplied by the natural resistive of the users own opposing muscular structures.
