Abstract
ABSTRACT OF INVENTION
A shelf assembly including support structure having opposed vertically sinusoidal support surfaces for supporting removable shelf members.
A shelf assembly including support structure having opposed vertically sinusoidal support surfaces for supporting removable shelf members.
Description
FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention relates to an adjustable shelving assembly with supports.
BACKGROUND TO INVENTION
In order to take full advantage of the width of the locker and to retain a snug fit on the walls of the locker, this assembly was devised. It is difficult to insert shelves in the front of a locker because of the frontal vertical lip of a 10 locker.
FEATURE OF INVENTION
In order to overcome such difficulty, a horizontal shelf is utilized which is pivotally inserted and embraced between sinusoidal upright support members. Furthermore, the sinusoidal vertical supports enable auxilliary shelves to be attached to the support members at an acute angle to hold miscellaneous items in the locker.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
20 Figure l is an exploded perspective view of the shelf assembly.
Figure 2 is a partially frontelevational view showing the insertion of a horizontal shelf.
Figure 3 is a partial front elevational view showing a shelf disposed at an acute angle.
Figure 4 is a front elevational view of the shelf assembly in a locker with the exterior horizontal and vertical lips removed.
The assembly is generally shown in Figure l and 30 includes a first pair of uprights or support members 2a, 2b, which is adapted to be fastened to one vertical wall 4 of a locker 6. A second pair of upright or support members, 8a and 8b, is adapted to be fastened to the opposite vertical wall 10 of locker 6. The uprights or support members 2a, 2b, 8a, and 8b are fastened to their vertical walls of locker 6 by double adhesive tape 12, as shown in Figure 4.

The support members 2a, 2b, 8a and 8b, ara board-like and include 3 flat sides and one side which is sinusoidal, as best illustrated in Figure 1.
Figure 1 shows the utilization of braces 14 and 16 which are adapted to connect support members 8a and 8b, so as to rigidify the assembly.
Furthermore, brace 18 connects support members 2a and 2b so as to rigidify the assembly. Braces 10 14, 16 and 18 are connected to the support members by means of screws 20.
The horizontal shelves 22 are supported by the sinusoidal portions of support members 2a, 2b, 8a and 8b. Auxilliary shelves 24 (top shelves) are anchored in place by metal screws 20 to the first pair support members 2a and 2b; the horizontal shelves 2a are positioned and adjusted by a pivoting action as shown in Figure 2.
Horizontal shelf 22 may be adjusted upwardly or 20 downwardly by selecting the sinusoidal portions of the support members 2a, 2b, 8a and 8b.
Auxilliary shelves 24 may be used to retain small items such as wallets or watches. In order to prevent such items from falling in between the locker wall4, auxilliary shelf 24 and support members 2a and 2b; a piece of quarter round 23 or other suitable filler may be used as best shown in Figure 3.
This invention relates to an adjustable shelving assembly with supports.
