Abstract

The said industrial design consists of the shape, configuration and ornamentation of a vacuum cleaner having a generally cylindrical dust bin portion the upper end of which merges into an upper surface portion having a circumferentially-spaced array of generally frustoconical contiguous sections each having a curved rib-like portion extending upwards and rearwards from the top surface thereof and merging into a rear housing portion having a curved front surface; an upwards and rearwards curved carry handle extends above the array of generally frustoconical contiguous sections and merges into the curved front surface or a vertically extending wand handle support section having a switch portion at the upper end thereof; above and to the rear of the wand handle support section is a wand handle having a generally oblong end area situated above a bent portion; the oblong end area merges into a generally cylindrical first end section of the wand handle which is axially aligned with and merges into a somewhat larger generally cylindrical second end section, the lower end of which merges into an outwardly and downwards flared section situated adjacent the switch portion; the flared section in turn merges into an elongated rear support structure for the vacuum cleaner which extends along the rear of the dust bin portion; a U-shaped generally cylindrical member is situated adjacent the lower end of the rear support structure; the lower end of the generally cylindrical dust bin portion merges into a laterally extending portion having a curved upper surface and a generally cylindrical end section; a pair of spaced apart arm portions of a cleaning head are situated on either side of the laterally extending portion; each arm portion has a forwards and downwards curved upper surface and a generally flat outside surface; the rear ends of the arm portions of the cleaning head are situated adjacent to a pair of generally cylindrical wheels; the forward ends of the arm portions of the cleaning head have scalloped areas and the arm portions merge into opposite ends of a laterally extending soleplate area and an adjacent generally cylindrical laterally extending brushbar area.
