Abstract
ELASTÈMEROS CONTENDO CARGAS SILICIOSAS METALIZADAS. Esta invenção está baseada no conceito da modificação da superfície da sílica com um metal, tal como titânio ou zircónio, que irá catalisar reações de condensação do silanol na superfície da sílica. Em outras palavras a modificação da superfície da sílica com títânio ou zircónio, proporciona um catalisador para a reação de condensação do silanol entre a superfície da sílica e agentes de acoplamento de silano usados em compostos com carga de sílica. A utilização de tal sílica metalizada como uma carga em composições de borracha resulta em interação de carga polimérica aperfeiçoada e por sua vez, melhores propriedades físicas. Por exemplo, tais cargas siliciosas metalizadas na superfície podem ser usadas em compostos de banda de rodagem para obter melhor resistência ao rolamento e desgaste da banda de rodagem sem comprometer as características de tração. This invention is based on the concept of modifying the silica surface with a metal, such as titanium or zirconium, which will catalyze silanol condensation reactions on the silica surface. In other words, modifying the silica surface with titanium or zirconium provides a catalyst for the silanol condensation reaction between the silica surface and silane coupling agents used in silica-charged compounds. The use of such metallized silica as a filler in rubber compositions results in improved polymeric filler interaction and in turn improved physical properties. For example, such surface metallized silicon loads can be used in tread compounds to obtain better rolling resistance and tread wear without compromising traction characteristics. More specifically, the present invention provides an elastomeric composition composed of (1) a rubberized polymer, (2) a silica coupling agent and (3) a metallised silicon filler on the surface. The present invention further discloses a tire composed of a generally toroid-shaped carcass with an outer circumferential tread, two spaced tire beads, at least one bead extending layer and radially extending sidewalls of the tread and connecting it to the tire beads, where such a tread is adapted to contact the ground, where the tread is composed of (1) a rubberized polymer, (2) a silica coupling agent and (3) a metallized silicon filler on the surface.
