In specific embodiments, the liner includes a base layer of material and at least two strips or regions of elastomeric material attached to the base layer material with a space between them such that a central region of the base layer material is limited to at least two terminations by composite regions of the elastomeric materials and the base layer material. In specific embodiments, the base layer material comprises a stretched non-extensible material. In other embodiments, the base layer material comprises an inherently extensible material. In certain embodiments, the composite region or regions may form a portion of the outer cover. Absorbent articles employing the material may have stretch or elastomeric end regions.
