Abstract

ATIVAçAO POR PLANTA DE TOXINA DE INSETO São fornecidos composições e métodos para proteger uma praga de inseto. Em particular, sequências de ácido nucléico que codificam pró-toxinas de inseto modificadas para compreender pelo menos um sítio de ativação proteolítica que é sensível a uma protease de planta ou uma protease do intestino do inseto são fornecidas. A clivagem da pró-toxina modificada no sítio de ativação proteolítica pela protease produz uma toxina de inseto ativa. Métodos de uso das sequências de ácido nucléicos da pró-toxina modificada de inseto e os polipeptídeos que elas codificam para proteger a planta de uma praga de inseto são fornecidos. Modalidades particulares da invenção também fornecem composições e formulações de pró-toxina modificada de inseto, cassetes de expressão e plantas transformadas, células da planta e sementes.
