Abstract
"PLACA DE ELETRODO DUPLO SUPORTANDO DOIS ELETRODOS, E, SISTEMA ELETROQUìMICO". A presente invenção refere-se a células eletroquímicas e sistemas eletroquímicos utilizando uma placa de eletrodo unitária ou de peça única doravante aqui igualmente referida como uma placa de eletrodo duplo (DEP) que serve para ligar eletricamente dois compartimentos de célula adjacentes e em que o fluxo de corrente nos eletrodos é paralelo relativamente à face de trabalho do eletrodo. Nas construções de células aqui reveladas as células são montadas na forma de uma pilha de células contígua (pilha de células) com aparência similar à de uma prensa de filtro em que as ligações elétricas entre células adjacentes são feitas utilizando a placa de eletrodo duplo. Em um aspecto da invenção, é obtido um dispositivo de eletrólise de múltiplas pilhas (MSE) monopolar utilizando placas de eletrodo duplo em que as placas de eletrodo duplo planares ligam células em pilhas de células adjacentes. As características monopolares da célula são mantidas pela presença de um espaço de folga de ar isolando cada pilha de células adjacente ligada por cada placa de eletrodo duplo. Em um outro aspecto da invenção é obtido um dispositivo de eletrólise de pilha única (SSE) utilizando uma placa de eletrodo duplo dobrada para ligação de células adjacentes em uma única pilha. Uma parede isoladora separa compartimentos de dispositivos de pares de eletrodos adjacentes ligados pela placa de eletrodo duplo no SSE. Em um outro aspecto da invenção são providas estruturas de circulação de eletrólito que são fabricadas de materiais elastoméricos que proporcionam vedações estanques para fluidos. São igualmente providos compartimentos rígidos nas extremidades de cada pilha para proporcionarem rigidez estrutural além de proporcionarem uma localização para mistura de eletrólito das diferentes pilhas do dispositivo de eletrólise de múltiplas pilhas.
