trata-se de um método para operar um campo de extração de hidrocarbonetos com a ajuda de um computador que inclui programar o computador com um modelo de medidor de fluxo virtual. o modelo pode ser escrito com uma notação que representa pelo menos um dentre fluxo de massa, temperatura e pressão em extremidades de uma pluralidade de elementos de perda de pressão (ples). os ples podem incluir uma pluralidade de poços localizados no campo de extração de hidrocarbonetos. o método pode incluir adicionalmente o computador estimar, com o uso do modelo, as taxas de fluxo de massa respectivas de uma pluralidade de poços. o método pode incluir adicionalmente controlar elementos do campo de extração de hidrocarbonetos com base, pelo menos em parte, nas taxas de fluxo de massa estimadas.
