Abstract
um derivado de furfural tendo a fórmula química (1) em que r representa hidrogênio, um grupo alquila ou um grupo acila, é preparado em um processo, tal processo compreende reagir uma material iniciador contendo frutose e/ou glicose com um composto contendo grupo hidroxila líquido da fórmula r-oh na presença de um catalisador ácido em uma temperatura de reação na faixa de 150 a 300 °c para produzir uma mistura de reação ácida primária compreendendo o derivado de furfural da fórmula química (1); separar parte do composto contendo grupo hidroxila líquido da mistura de reação ácida primária para render uma mistura de reação ácida secundária; neutralizar a mistura de reação ácida secundária para um valor de ph na faixa de pelo menos 3 para obter uma mistura de reação neutralizada e purificar a mistura de reação parcialmente neutralizada para recuperar o derivado de furfural da fórmula química (1).
