Abstract

The present application refers to the characterization of the product named gelpre, which constitutes silica gel and its process of production and extraction from the use of residues from the production of metallic silicon. the silica gel obtained has the purpose of being applied as an addition in structural and mechanical modifier of cement-based or non-cement-based material. thus, it can be used in pastes, mortars and concretes in partial replacement of portland cement and other mineral additions already used with a view to changes in microstructure and mechanical behavior, increasing durability and performance. in addition, it can be used as moisture absorbers, in biosensors, in paints and varnishes, epoxies, anticorrosive pigments, additives for plastic materials and cosmetics industries. at the same time, the proposed new product named gelpre uses waste that has not been used so far and, as it reduces the consumption of cement in cementitious matrices, it can minimize the emission of co2. the present invention is in the field of engineering and chemistry.
