A single stage turbine fluid pump assembly (30) for use in a vehicle fuel delivery system, generally including a lower housing (44), an upper housing (42), a propellant (48) and an engine (36). Both lower and upper housings have a pair of concentric annular grooves (62A, 62B and 58A, S8B) formed on their surfaces, where the two lower annular grooves are in fluid communication with a fuel inlet (50) and the two upper annular slots are in fluid communication with a fuel passage outlet (52). One rotation of the propellant causes one portion of the incoming fuel to be diverted to an inner lower groove and another portion of the incoming fuel to be diverted to an outer lower groove. Once in the lower slots, the fuel communicates with the other parts of the pumping chamber (54A, S4B), so that it fills the upper slots as well. Generally independent, helical fuel flow patterns are formed, which causes the fuel to become pressurized as it flows from the inlet to the outlet. These helical fuel flow patterns allow axial communication between vane receptacles (60A, 60B) and corresponding slots, but do not allow radial communication.
