COMPOSITION FOR THE TREATMENT AND CARE OF THE SKIN
The present invention relates to compositions for the maintenance and treatment of the skin. It relates, in particular, to compositions for the prophylaxis and treatment of skin conditions, such as psoriasis or acne.
It is known that psoriasis is a very common skin condition which is characterized by red patches or spots covered with white scales that can occur on large areas of the human body. These more or less widespread plaques or spots can appear on various parts of the body, in particular the trunk (in particular the back), the arms (in particular the point of the elbows), the legs (for example, the knees), the feet, the scalp, even the region of the genitals.
We also know that acne is a rash manifested by local inflammations in the form of accumulated accumulated dead skin cells.
in the pores of the skin ("skin worms" or blackheads), in the form of cysts made up of clumps of cells in the stratum corneum of the epidermis or even in the form of inflamed and suppurative pustules. These symptoms frequently appear on the face, shoulders and back.
These conditions, even if they are not serious, cause psychological problems and often cause irritation or tickling.
It is known to treat psoriasis, by general way, using cortisone derivatives, but this treatment presents a risk of extension of the disease,
when reducing the dosage. It is also known to treat psoriasis with ointments made from coal tar. The use of such ointments is difficult. Finally, we also recommend the treatment of psoriasis with corticosteroid creams or ointments, but the treatment is likely, if it is prolonged, to cause permanent skin lesions (in particular stretch marks, atrophy, etc.).
As for acne, it is often treated with local antiseptics, or even with vaccines, antibiotics, ultraviolet rays or dry ice which are often exacting treatments.
The subject of the present invention is compositions for topical use which are in particular in the form of ointments, ointments, creams, milks, lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc. with an aqueous base, in particular with a base of distilled water, containing, in suspension, caffeine or an alkaloid from the purine group, as well as an organic acid pharmacologically acceptable for human skin.
These compositions according to the invention may contain caffeine or an analogous alkaloid, in the form
more or less pure, in particular, in the form of
grains or fruits of plants containing it, in particular of
coffee, tea, cocoa or cola. It is, in the latter case,
phytopharmaceutical compositions containing, in addition to caffeine, other possibly active substances.
Preferably, compositions according to the invention contain, in suspension in distilled water, finely ground powder of green coffee beans (not roasted) in an amount of at least about 20% by weight, the proportion by weight of coffee powder up to 80% and being advantageously between 25 and 60% by weight.
As for the pharmacologically acceptable organic acid, it is advantageously chosen from salicylic acid, fumaric acid, citric acid, malic acid, tartaric acid and oxalic acid. Preference is given to salicylic acid which is present in the compositions according to the invention in a proportion by weight of approximately 5 to 25%, preferably of approximately 5 to 15%.
In addition to water, preferably distilled, serving as a vehicle, the compositions according to the invention may contain common materials intended to give them the desired nature and consistency, in particular excipients for creams, ointments, ointments, foaming agents for shampoos, detergents for solid, pasty or liquid soaps, perfumes, etc.
As excipients for ointments or ointments, it is advantageous to use commercial products called "cold cream * which are stable creamy emulsions containing about 10 to 15% by weight of cetyl alcohol, about 1% by weight of sodium lauryl sulfate and , for the rest, water. As another base of ointments or ointments, we can use a mixture of about 15% white wax, 55% sweet almond oil and 30% roses.
The compositions according to the invention may be in the form of ointments or ointments containing, by weight, 20 to 80% of fine green coffee powder, 5 to 15% of "cold cream *, 10 to 15% of acid salicylic acid and, for the rest, distilled water.
In a particular embodiment, the ointment according to the invention contains, by weight, approximately
40% green coffee in fine powder, approximately 5% salicylic acid, approximately 25% "cold cream" and, for the rest, distilled water.
A composition according to the invention may consist of a lotion which may contain, by weight, approximately
40% green coffee in fine powder, 5% by weight of salicylic acid and, for the rest, distilled water.
A composition according to the invention, in the form of a shampoo, may contain approximately 35 to 40% by weight of fine powdered green coffee, 5 to 10% by weight of salicylic acid and, for the rest, an aqueous base of shampoo.
The following examples illustrate the invention without implied limitation.
In these examples, the percentages are given by weight.

tartaric acid or oxalic acid.
The ointments or ointments according to the invention are
to be applied to affected surfaces of the skin, in the form of a layer at a rate of approximately 0.1 to 0.5 grams. per cm2 and are left in place for several hours, covering them with a sheet of waterproof material
and non-absorbent such as a cellophane sheet. This treatment is to be applied, preferably, once or twice per 24 hours, for a few weeks.
When the symptoms of psoriasis or acne have disappeared or have at least been greatly reduced, maintenance treatment is applied, for example using a lotion.
Numerous tests carried out on voluntary patients suffering from psoriasis, acne or other skin conditions have revealed that the compositions according to the invention make it possible to attenuate, or even to make disappear, the symptoms of these conditions after a few weeks. intensive treatment and then only maintenance prophylaxis to prevent their recurrence.
It is obvious that the invention is not limiting to the details described above and that numerous modifications can be made to these details without departing from the scope of the invention.
