Description

"Rocket for rifle grenade" The present invention relates to improvements to Belgian patent n [deg.] 793,877 by the Applicant.

This patent disclosed a fuze for rifle grenade of the type comprising a body provided with an axial bore closed on one side by a detonator holder and terminating, at its other end, with a housing for a propellant charge of extra; a sleeve extending into said bore and containing an inertia striker; means for locking said firing pin, means controlled by a lock, part of which surrounds said sleeve and one end of which extends, at rest, to said housing for the extra load and shear pins holding said lock in the control position of said locking means, until the charge of a propellant cartridge, if applicable, of said make-up charge. Said detonator holder is made under

the form of a support disc carrying, on its front face, a rotor containing an eccentric relay charge, the latter being able to be brought into alignment with the pyrotechnic chain by rotation of said rotor under the action of a spring, rotation controlled by a Anchor mechanism normally locked by a rod passing through said support disc and intended to be pushed back, to release said mechanism, by said lock, following the combustion of the propellant charge (s), cartridge and supplemental charge.

In the embodiment described and illustrated in the main patent, the rod intended to be pushed back to release the anchor mechanism comprises a locking head immobilized by a deformable means placed between two fingers integral with said anchor. On the other hand, said deformable means is produced by a cup fixed to the aforesaid support disc, part of the peripheral edge of this cup penetrating into a groove provided for this purpose in the head of said rod.

These two characteristics, while being likely to give good results, have nevertheless been modified with a view in particular to safeguarding safety in the event of a part of the anchor mechanism breaking and also to obtain that the entire mechanism is no longer powered on during storage.

For this dual purpose and in accordance with the present improvements, said cup integral with the disc no longer enters a groove provided for this purpose in said head of the rod, but is conditioned so as to overcome said head. On the other hand, the rocket is locked directly on the rotor and no longer on the anchor. For this purpose, said rod comprises a locking head immobilized by deformable means in a notch of the rotor. These improvements can be implemented in varying forms. By way of non-limiting example, an execution is
