Abstract

Cpds. (I) (where R1 is H or 1-4C alkyl; and R2 is Het-(CH2)m-Z-(CH2)n- (where Het is a 5 or 6-membered N contg. heterocyclic ring esp. imidazole, pyridine, thiazole, isothiazole, oxazole, oxazole, isoxazole, pyrazole, triazole, thiadiazole, pyrimidine, pyrazine or pyridazine, opt. substd. by halogen alkyl, CF3 OH or NH2, Z is O, S or NH or CH2 and m and n are 0-4 and m+n is 2-4) are prepd. by reacting R2NH with R3-Y-C-(:NCN)NHR1 or with (R3Y)2C=N-CN (then the prodt with R1NH2) (where R3 is 1-4C alkyl, aryl, or aralkyl and Y is O or S). Thus R1=Me, R2 = 2-/(4-methyl-5-imidazolyl)me methylthio)ethyl/) is prepd. from 4-methyl-5/(2-aminoethyl)thiomethyl/imidazole and N-cyano, N', S-dimethylisothiourea.
