Abstract
Block copolymers prepn. from >=1 8-18C monovinyl aromatic and >=1 4-12C conjugated diene using initiator RCH2Li (where R is 3-11C (cyclo)alkyl) comprises polymsg. monovinyl aromatic monomer, adding and polymsg. the diene monomer, the introducing either further monovinyl aromatic monomer or polyfunctional coupling agent. polymsn. being effected in the presence of 0.01-10 m. moles/100 g. total monomers of a 2-24C (thio)ether or tert. amine (as comp. to 0.01-100 m.moles/100 g. in parent patent). Prepn. gives elastomers with improved traction resistance in the green state.
