Abstract

A small amt. of a first coloured glass is formed into a patterned lenticular shape within a mould. A second glass (colourless or different to the first) on the end of a blowpipe is adhered to the patterned surface of the first while it is still plastic, and roughly blow moulded into a cylindrical shape. A coating of a third glass (colourless is applied over the whole of the composite while still on the blowpipe, and the article finally blow moulded to the desired form. Spec. the patterns are indentations, and the air trapped therein by the second glass expands under its heat to form bubbles. Articles are produced more economically and with fewer rejects from imperfections.
