Description

  BOIS ARME.

La Figo 1 représente un bloc de bois à armer;

La   Fig. 2   montre un bloc armé formé de trois éléments;

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  ARMORED WOOD.

   We know that wood, especially when it is used in fairly thick pieces, is susceptible to twisting, to the detriment of the work or of manufactured objects which are unraveled or deformed.

   In order to avoid this drawback, it is often used in certain industries, joinery and the like, above all, of parts constituted by different elements juxtaposed and glued together.

   However, if the pieces thus formed do not unravel, they are nevertheless susceptible to disintegration, each time the glue no longer sticks on the wood, as a consequence of unfavorable conditions.

   With the present invention the two mentioned drawbacks are eliminated, and parts are obtained which do not fall apart and which resist twisting, whatever the environment in which they are found.

   The invention, of which the accompanying drawings make it possible to take full knowledge, consists in making, on one or more faces of different elements, a certain number of transverse and equidistant notches, with trapezoidal section, alternately projecting and re-entrant, as seen in the drawings, this by means of a machine designed for this purpose by the same inventor
It is obvious that the notches must be made with absolute precision so that the different elements fit together, which can only be obtained with the machine invented by the applicant, the cost of labor making it invention impracticable in industrial conditions
Figo 1 represents a block of wood to be reinforced;

   (tab. 1)
Fig. 2 shows an armed block formed of three elements;
Fig. 3 shows a central part formed according to FIG.

  2 and component elements, while in FIG. 4 the various elements are

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 assembled to constitute a reinforced wood. It is thus verified that there are elements which have notches on one face only, others on two, three and four faces.

   Fig. 5 shows how to obtain a structure of the desired dimensions without reduction in strength, since the various elements can be juxtaposed either parallel to each other, or perpendicularly, or finally in continuation of one another.

   In all cases the elements can be glued to each other.

   Reinforced wood can also be used for decorative purposes by using elements of various colors, which will bring out each element.

Claims (1)

CLAIM =, Reinforced wood, characterized by the use of separate elements, bearing transverse notches with trapezoidal section, alternately projecting and re-entrant which fit into each other and which are, in general glued, forming blocks which do not split apart and are not susceptible to disintegration.
