Description

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

  "IMPROVEMENTS TO OSCILLATING CIRCUITS APPLIED TO ELECTRIC AND SIMILAR MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS"
The present invention relates to improvements to electric musical instruments, that is to say in which the sound is produced by means of powered loudspeakers, preferably by means of thermal amplifiers. electronic by an electrical source of musical frequency of any type (alternators, thermoelectronic generators, self-exciters, etc.)
Its aim is to provide a simple means of obtaining at will the resonance of all the harmonics existing in the electromotive force produced by said source.

   We thus have the possibility either to vary in

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 great limits to the timbre of each note emitted, or to extract from the same source various sounds whose relative pitch varies according to the series of integers.

   It consists in principle in adding to the source an artificial line suitably established. The end of this line can be closed on an impedance of an arbitrary nature, chosen according to the effect to be obtained. The value of this terminal impedance can also vary from 0 (short-circuit line) to infinity (empty line).

  By way of nonlimiting example, mention may be made of the case of an empty ± 1 line, supplemented with the source by means of an impedance of very low relative value. The line will enter, as known, in resonance for frequencies whose relative height varies very appreciably according to the series of odd numbers: 1, 3, 5, 7, ..... We could thus collect at the limits of a suitable element of the circuit thus composed 1) .ne tension de'forme complex which can be used either. globally to drive a thermo-electronic amplifier, or partially, the unused frequencies being stopped by a filter of a nature determined according to each case. This filter can for example consist of an intermediate oscillating circuit tuned to the desired frequency.

   It goes without saying that in this line of ideas many variations are possible, all in accordance with the spirit of the invention. This can moreover be extended to the domain of inaudible frequencies.
