One example of the entire diet using premix B, which is Example 2 mentioned above, and which is the preferred feed ration, is as follows: INGREDIENT BY WT Wheat 39.549 Triticali Lupins 29% Extracted Soya 48% 20.5 Oil (Flaxseed) Limegrit 9.2 Salt 0.25 Sodium Bicarbonate 0.20 Dicalcium Phosphate 1.7 D L Methionine 0.19 Choline Chloride 0.15 Enzyme (Allzyme PT) 0.07 Tryptosine 15/70 0.1 Sea Plant (DHA Gold) 0.25 Premix B 0.65 Y. Colour Red 0.165 Y. Colour Yellow 0.026 TOTAL 100 The nutritional improvements which the egg and feed ration according to the preferred embodiment of the invention can provide are as follows; 1. Folic Acid: involved in DNA/RNA synthesis, Red blood cell formation, and has an Anti-anemic effect. This vitamin has been shown to decrease the incidence of neural tube defects by when suplemented to women before becoming pregnant.
H: \rbourke\Keep\Speci\EGG FEEDSTOCK FOR PRODUCING EGG FARM PP.IDE.doc 3106/02 10 2. Folic Acid and B12: involved synergistically in red blood cell production and have anti-anemic effects. Both are involved in improving energy levels, metabolic efficiency and appetite. Both vitamins can be deficient in sports people, elderly, sick people and women because of blood loss.
3. Homocysteine Reduction and Control: homocysteine is an amino acid which has been shown to be high in people suffering from and dying from heart disease and atherosclorosis. This disposition appears to be genetically inherited and is made worse by a deficiency of B12 and folic acid.
These vitamins help homocysteine to be recycled back into methionine again. Homocysteine metabolism and control maybe more important in the aetiology of these diseases than cholesterol. These critical vitamins have been enriched in Vitaegg.
4. Cholesterol Metabolism and Importance to Health Cholesterol is essential to human health being a precursor to all sex hormones, vitamin D and bile acids. It is essential for fertility and too little cholesterol causes increases in stroke, cancer and violent deaths (suicide etc). Intervention trials aimed at reducing cholesterol to monitor effects on CHD/CVD and mortality showed that cholesterol and mortality due to these diseases was reduced but that total mortality was not. There was a rise in mortality due to the other diseases and factors described above.
The real problem with cholesterol is when it oxidises to form oxycholesterol. This is the start of the formation H:\mbourke\Keep\Speci\EGG FEEDSTOCK FOR PRODUCING EGG FARM PRIDE.doc 3/06/02 11 of foam cells and calcified plaques on artery walls that end up blocking the artery leading to heart and cardiovascular failure.
Too much LDL and not enough HDL, which scrubs the artery of this plaque and carries it back to the liver for processing, also exacerbates the problem.
The solution to these problems is to provide adequate antioxidant nutrients to improve antioxidant status.
These include: vitamins E, D, A and minerals Se, Zn, Mn, I and Cu.
Increasing HDL and lowering LDL is achieved by increasing chromium, niacin, B vitamins, flaxseed oil, omega 3 and by use of Purslane and Bio-Mos (mannanoligosaccharide).
Diabetes: This is an increasing problem due to poor lifestyle factors, genetic risk, lack of exercise, obesity, poor carbohydrate and fat metabolism problems, insulin resistance (factor X syndrome) and inadequate antioxidant status.
Factors known to control this disease including eliminating insulin injections are: 1. increasing general antioxidant status to reduce the oxidative stress suffered by diabetics (most vitamins, Se, Zn, Cu, Mn).
2. increasing zinc, omega 3 are highly specific to controlling this preventable disease.
Digestive disorders, stress, liver disease, poor detoxification function, poor cognitive function, learning, behavioral difficulties and crime, depression dementia, can be either controlled, reversed or eliminated with the array of nutrients levels incorporated into the egg.
H: \mbourke\Keep\Speei\EG L FEEDS7 OCK FOR PRODUCING EGG FARM PRIDE~doc 3/06/02 12 These conditions are becoming increasingly more common.
Many of these problems are due to nutrient deficiencies and metabolic dysfunctions especially where lifestyle, toxic loads, emotional environment are not conducive to good health and hence the requirements for most nutrients are raised in order to support optimum health.
Pantothenic acid is involved in stress response, adrenal glands digestive disorders, digestive acid production, stress hormone production and response, psychological state among others. Every micronutrient discussed is involved directly or as co-factors in biochemical process that control these conditions.
The importance of the constituents of eggs produced according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, and also produced by birds which are fed with the feed stock according to the preferred embodiment of the invention, are as follows: 1. Omega 3: Essential long chain fatty acids important in controlling carcinogenesis, cardiac function, inflammation, brain composition and function, skin condition, cell membranes, cell proliferation, insulin sensitivity, weight control and many biochemical reactions. Omega 3 is useful for reducing cholesterol levels and blood clotting risk, preventing arthritis and various nervous and neuronal conditions; 2. DHA: An essential nutrient in brain composition and cognitive function, cell membranes, cardiac composition and function, preventing of myocardial infarction/coronary heart disease.
3. Omega 6 to Omega 3 Ratio: The balance between these essential amino acids is important. Current diets H: \mbourke\Xeep\Spec1\G PEEDSTOCX FOR PRODUCING EGG Fin PRIDE.doc 3/06/02 13 have high omega 6 to omega 3 ratios which are nonoptimum for good health. High omega 6 and low omega 3 ratios promote inflammatory processes in the body and are correlated with higher risk of carcinogenesis occurring. Low levels of omega 3 are generally found in the typical Western diet which has exacerbated this unfavourable ratio.
4. Vitamin K: Vitamin K is required for normal blood clotting processes through Prothrombin production.
Bleeding can be caused by vitamin K deficiencies.
Infants can exhibit abnormal growth if deficient.
Biotin: Biotin is essential for normal growth, development and health. Deficiency symptoms include skin, nail and hair disorders, fatigue, depression, nausea, loss of appetite, muscular pains, elevated blood cholesterol, anaemia and faulty fat, carbohydrate and protein metabolism. Dysfunctional and dysbiosis of intestinal microflora cause reduced biotin production in many people.
Since modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention may readily be effected by persons skilled within the art, it is to be understood that this invention is not limited to the particular embodiment described by way of example hereinabove.
In the claims which follow and in the preceding 30 description of the invention, except where the context i. requires otherwise due to express language or necessary 0 0 implication, the word "comprise", or variations such as "comprises" or "comprising", is used in an inclusive sense, i.e. to specify the presence of the stated features but not to preclude the presence or addition of further features in various embodiments of the invention.
