Abstract
The incoming lines (4) from cables (3) are guided over the outer side of the connecting strip (1) from beneath to a first row of connecting elements (12). The outgoing lines (7) are connected to a second row of connecting elements (12). Between the rows there are arranged plug contact springs (e.g. 11) in a protective plug. A duct- shaped wiring space (8) for the outgoing lines (7) runs to the end faces of the connecting strip (1), between the said plug contact springs and the connecting elements (12) for the outgoing lines (7). As a result of this arrangement, the available space between the rows of connections is used to the maximum extent so that the connecting strips can be arranged in rows close to one another. <IMAGE>

Terminal strip for incoming and outgoing electric lines The invention relates to a terminal strip having two rows of connection elements in each case for incoming and outgoing electric lines, in particular of telephone systems.
Such a terminal strip is known, for example, from f^~n :ga ift 2,25, 3 According to this, the connection elements point in the same direction and are embedded in an insulator of the terminal strip. The connection elements are designed as insulation piercing connecting devices, the contact points of which lie in one 15 plane. That is to say that the incoming and outgoing lines are pressed from the same side into the clamping slits of the insulation piercing connecting devices. Starting from the connecting points, the Lines are led via the neighbouring side edges of the terminal strip along adjoining side faces away from the the contact elements.
Such terminal strips are used for example in primary cable distribution cabinets of telephone networks.
In such cases, the lines coming from the exchange are grouped together in cables and connected to a row of connection elements. The outgoing lines are connected to the other row of connection elements. The two rows of connection elements are integrally interconnected by means of a connecting section. The outgoing lines are jumper wires, which Lead to the subscriber lines. That means that these lines also have to be accessible for wiring changes after installation of the terminal strips.
Therefore, the outgoing lines are led away.over the narrow end faces of the terminal strip. The lines coming from cables are led to the connection elements from the underside which faces away from the connecting points.
The invention is based on the object of arranging the terminal strips in rows with the narrowest possible intervals in between and of facilitating the connection of the hookup wires.

2 In accordance with the present invention there is disclosed a terminal strip having two rows of connection elements electrically connected to each other In pairs, one of said rows of connection elements being for incoming electric lines and the other row of connecting elements being for outgoing electric lines, with each outgoing line being connected to its associated incoming line, wherein the connection elements are arranged in parallel and point in the same direction and are embedded in an insulator of the terminal strip, with the incoming lines coming from a cable led from outside the terminal strip to said one row of the connection elements, wherein there is provided between the rows of connection elements a channel-like wiring space, in which the outgoing lines are led from their associated connectlon elements to end faces of the terminal strip.
According to this, the space available between the rows of connections is utilised to the maximum extent. The terminal strips may 9 then be arranged in rows with a small lateral distance in between. In this arrangement, the incoming lines are in each case fixed to the last-fitted terminal strip before the next terminal strip is fitted. It is usual to provide between the rows of connection elements plug-in contact points, for example for shock-proof plugs, which require a corresponding space. Furthermore, a corresponding free space must be created for access for the wiring tools. According to the invention, the channel-like wiring space leading to the end faces of the terminal strip is between the two rows of connnection elements. This means that the hookup wires are connected to the connection elements from the same side. Since the terminal strips are usually arranged vertically one above the other, the initially projecting ends hang down, which improves the appreciation of the arrangment and facilitates connection. The connecting tool is held in the same position for both rows of connection elements. The projecting wire ends drop down unhindered once they are cut off.
A further embodiment makes it possible to keep the channel-like wiring space for the outgoing lines particularly wide.
The invention is explained In more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment represented In the drawlng.
;A z 13450 A4V 2 p r t ;p iil- i i i- -rar 2A Figures 1, 2 and 3 show in three various side views a distribution block having rows of terminal strips for incoming and outgoing lines.
Figure 4 represents a cross-section through a terminal strip.
According to Figures 1, 2 and 3, terminal strips 1 for electric lines are fixed in rows on a supporting plate bent in the shape of a u, with their longitudinal sides facing. Electric lines 4 coming from a cable 3 are led between the terminal strips 1 and the base section of the supporting plate 2 through wtire guide rings 5,6 to a

IAD/1345o N I -3row of connecting points of the terminal strips 1.
Outgoing Line 7 in the form of jumper wires are connected to a second row of connecting points of the terminal strips 1. From there, they lead via a channellike wiring space 8 of the terminal strip 1 to its end faces, from whence they are Led to other terminal strips.
In Figure 4, the construction of the terminal strip is shown in detail. Contact parts 9, bent in the shape of a u, form at the ends of their side members the connecting points for the incoming Lines 4 and the outgoing lines 7.
Bent up as contact springs 10 from the base section of the contact parts 9 are resilient Lugs. Between these, pinshaped plug devices 11, for example of a shock-proof plug, can be pushed, making contact. The contact springs 10 are offset towards the side members for the incoming lines 4, so that the distance between the contact springs 10 and the side members for the outgoing lines 7 is correspondingly increased. The deep recess between the latter forms the channel-Like wiring space 8, which extends continuously from one end face of the terminal strip 1 to the other.
At both end faces, the wiring space is covered by slit Lugs 12, which represent a guiding aid. The incoming Lines 4 are connected from the inside of the terminal strip 1 to the contact pieces 9. The outgoing lines 7 are led from the end faces of the terminal strip 1 through the wiring space 8 to the individual contact points, and thus are led from the inside to the side members of the contact pieces 9. The latter form connection elements 14, 13 in the form of insulation piercing connecting devices. The incoming and outgoing lines 4,7 are pushed into the Latter from abov- and thereby contacted.
