Abstract

1. Casing for electrical equipment, comprising a rectangular trough (1) open on one side, comprised of a bottom (4) and side walls (5) forming an unit, a quadrangular intermediate frame (2) fitting over the open side of the trough (1) by partly closing the opening of said trough (1), and a cover (3) which is hingedly mounted on the intermediate frame (2), characterized in that the side walls (5) of the trough (1) comprise over the whole circumference of the trough (1), on the open side thereof, a portion (17) staggered inwards relative to the outer surface of the walls (5), projecting beyond the free outer edge of the walls (5) along a direction away from the bottom (4) over a distance of at least about 1 cm and forming an unit with the walls (5), the intermediate frame (2) covering this portion (17) without projecting outside the outer surface of the side walls (5) and with the outer surfaces thereof lying in the extension of the trough side walls (5), the free edge of the intermediate frame (2) being engageable with the free outer edge of the walls (5) in the case of a surface-mounting of the casing.
